Catholic Central School is a private, Roman Catholic school in Springfield, Ohio. Part of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Catholic Central provides education for grades PreK-12 at three campuses. It was recently ranked as one of the Top 50 Catholic Schools in the Nation. The school's sports teams are known as the ''Fighting Irish''. History Catholic Central High School opened in 1929, as a unified name given to all the local parish high schools in the Springfield area. These three schools merged in 1932, moving operations over to the high school located at St. Raphael's Church in downtown Springfield. However, as the site began to become too crowded, the need for a larger campus became evident, and the school eventually moved again to a new building built down the street from the St. Raphael campus. Miami RedHawks Men's Basketball
The Miami RedHawks men's basketball team — known as the Miami Redskins until 1997 — is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Miami University. The school competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The RedHawks play home basketball games at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio on the university campus. Miami has reached the NCAA Championship's Sweet Sixteen four times and has been the MAC regular season champions 20 times. The team is currently coached by Travis Steele. South High School was a public high school located in Cleveland, Ohio in the historic Slavic Village neighborhood. It was part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Opened in 1894, it was the second high school established in the city. Their nickname was the Flyers. In June 2010 South High was closed by the 2010 Academic Transformation Plan that was issued by the Cleveland Public School System. West High School is a public high school located on the west side of Columbus, Ohio, in the Westgate neighborhood in the Hilltop area. It is a part of Columbus City Schools. History Due to overcrowding at Central High School in 1890s, a section of students split and were moved to another location, setting the foundation for what would become three new schools, including West High School. Designed by the first architect of Columbus schools, David Riebel, the Neo-Classical Revival style building was constructed in 1908 and opened in 1909 on South Central Avenue. The building became Starling Middle School when the new West High School opened. The new West High School opened in 1929.
