Offaly Way
The Offaly Way () is a long-distance trail in County Offaly, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is long and begins in Cadamstown and ends at Lemanaghan, on the R436 road between the towns of Clara, County Offaly, Clara and Ferbane. It is typically completed in two days. It is designated as a Long-distance trails in the Republic of Ireland, National Waymarked Trail by the National Trails Office of the Irish Sports Council and is managed by Offaly County Council, Bord na Mona and the Offaly Integrated Development Company. The trail provides a link between the Slieve Bloom Way and the Grand Canal (Ireland), Grand Canal Way. Starting at Cadamstown, the trail follows an old mass path along the banks of the Silver River (Ireland), Silver River to reach Kilcormac. It then crosses Boora Bog, an area noted for its Mesolithic archaeology. Silver River (Ireland)
The Silver River () is a river that flows through principally though the south of County Offaly in central Ireland. Its source is in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The village of Cadamstown, on the river, is home to the Silver River Geological Reserve. Course The Silver rises on the northwestern slopes of Baureigh Mountain (486 m) and descends to Cadamstown, the first settlement it encounters. Flowing westwards it passes Ballyboy and Kilcormac before turning north to join the River Brosna near Ferbane. The Brosna flows west from the confluence to join the River Shannon at Shannon Harbour. The Silver River is mostly within County Offaly but flows briefly within County Westmeath. References
