Ofelia Márquez Huitzil
Ofelia Márquez Huitzil (born 1959) is a Mexican artist and member of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana. She is best known for her abstract art with figurative elements, which has made her work somewhat controversial and excluded from Mexico abstract art movement. Life Ofelia Márquez Huitzil was born in Mexico City, to Jaime Márquez Ahumada and Ofelia Márquez Huitzil, along with two brothers, Jaime and Roberto. Her great grandfather painted churches, one of many who created religious imagery which she grew up with. When she was fourteen, her middle school art teacher, named Hilda Solís, took her to the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda" national art school. This trip convinced her to become an artist. She began concentrating on painting in the afternoons, with her regular studies in the morning. Luciano Spano
Luciano Biagio Spano Tancredi (born July 20, 1959, in Saluzzo, Cuneo, Italy) is a Mexican painter. Luciano Spano arrived in Mexico at the age of fourteen, in 1974. He enrolled from the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda", which he attended from 1977 to 1984, in Mexico City. He also attended the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas of the UNAM. Teresa Del Conde
Teresa del Conde Pontones (January 12, 1935 – February 16, 2017) was a Mexican art critic and art historian. Early life and education Born in Mexico City in 1938, Conde earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1958. With a grant she furthered her studies in Rome, earning a degree in psychopathology at the University of Milan. In 1974, she was granted a degree in art history; in 1979, a master's degree; and in 1986, she obtained a doctorate. Career Conde was a member of the faculty at UNAM, a columnist for ''La Jornada'', and a researcher at the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores. She was a Fellow of the Academia de Artes and a member of the International Association for the Study of Psychopathology of Expression and the International Committee of the History of Art. Gothic Architecture
Gothic architecture is an architectural style that was prevalent in Europe from the late 12th to the 16th century, during the High Middle Ages, High and Late Middle Ages, surviving into the 17th and 18th centuries in some areas. It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. It originated in the Île-de-France and Picardy regions of northern France. Guerrero
Guerrero, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Guerrero, is one of the 32 states that compose the administrative divisions of Mexico, 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into Municipalities of Guerrero, 85 municipalities. The state has a population of about 3.5 million people. Aztec Religion
The Aztec religion is a polytheistic and monistic pantheism in which the Nahua concept of '' teotl'' was construed as the supreme god Ometeotl, as well as a diverse pantheon of lesser gods and manifestations of nature. The popular religion tended to embrace the mythological and polytheistic aspects, and the Aztec Empire's state religion sponsored both the monism of the upper classes and the popular heterodoxies. The most important deities were worshiped by priests in Tenochtitlan, particularly Tlaloc and the god of the Mexica, Huitzilopochtli, whose shrines were located on Templo Mayor. Gouache
Gouache (; ), body color, or opaque watercolor is a water-medium paint consisting of natural pigment, water, a binding agent (usually gum arabic or dextrin), and sometimes additional inert material. Gouache is designed to be opaque. Gouache has a long history, having been used for at least twelve centuries. Sfumato
Sfumato ( , ; , i.e. 'blurred') is a painting technique for softening the transition between colours, mimicking an area beyond what the human eye is focusing on, or the out-of-focus plane. It is one of the canonical painting modes of the Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci was the most prominent practitioner of sfumato, based on his research in optics and human vision, and his experimentation with the camera obscura. He introduced it and implemented it in many of his works, including the ''Virgin of the Rocks'' and in his famous painting of the ''Mona Lisa''.
