Oak Hill, Austin, Texas
Oak Hill is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community and collection of neighborhoods located in southwestern Austin, Texas, United States. History The area now known as Oak Hill was initially known as Live Oak Springs in the 19th century. The land was awarded to William Cannon by the Government of Mexico, Mexican government in 1835. His land stretched from Williamson Creek to Slaughter Creek. Settlers began coming into the area shortly after the founding of the city of Austin and Travis County. In 1846, William D. Glascock brought his family and slaves from Mississippi, settling just north of Williamson Creek. Two years later, Glascock sold some of his land to Norwegian immigrant John Ernest Mowinkle, and the community, as such, was born. Texas State Capitol
The Texas State Capitol is the capitol and seat of government of the U.S. state of Texas. Barton Creek
Barton Creek is a tributary that feeds the Colorado River as it flows through the Texas Hill Country. The creek passes through some of the more scenic areas in Greater Austin, surrounded in many parts by a greenbelt of protected lands that serves as a habitat for many indigenous species of flora and fauna. The creek passes through Barton Creek Greenbelt and is fed by Barton Springs. Course The creek begins in northern Hays County and flows east through Austin, draining into the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone in southwest Austin. The stream then reemerges at Barton Springs and proceeds toward Lady Bird Lake (formerly Town Lake), where it joins with the Colorado River. Karst
Karst () is a topography formed from the dissolution of soluble carbonate rocks such as limestone and Dolomite (rock), dolomite. Edwards Aquifer
The Edwards Aquifer is one of the most prolific artesian aquifers in the world.
