OVO Sound
OVO Sound (short for October's Very Own) is a Canadian independent record label, founded in 2012 by rapper Drake, producer 40, and manager Oliver El-Khatib. The label operated as a subsidiary of Warner Music Group until 2022, after which it became an independent label. The label has signed acts including PartyNextDoor, ILoveMakonnen, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, Dvsn, Baka Not Nice, Popcaan, Smiley, and Naomi Sharon. In-house producers include 40 himself, Boi-1da, Nineteen85, Mike Zombie, and T-Minus. History The label's roots can be traced back to 2006, when Drake's first official mixtape, '' Room for Improvement'', was released under the unofficial record label "All Things Fresh" which eventually became "October's Very Own". Makonnen Kamali Sheran (born April 12, 1989), better known by his stage name iLoveMakonnen (often stylized as ILOVEMAKONNEN), is an American rapper and singer. He is best known for his 2014 single " Tuesday", which initially gained recognition following its remix with Canadian rapper Drake. ''Room for Improvement'' is the debut mixtape by Canadian rapper Drake. It was self-released on February 14, 2006, by All Things Fresh. Issued as a retail project, it sold 6,000 copies by the end of that year. It features contributions from Toronto natives Slakah the Beatchild, Frank Dukes, and Boi-1da; as well as American singer Trey Songz and American rapper Nickelus F. Tyler Mathew Carl Williams (born February 25, 1988), known professionally as T-Minus, is a Canadian record producer. Noted for his downtempo, synth-driven production style, he was an early collaborator of fellow Ontario native Drake, having produced his 2007 debut single " Replacement Girl". William Michael Coleman (born July 8, 1992), professionally known as Mike Zombie, is an American record producer and rapper from Willingboro Township, New Jersey, where he attended Willingboro High School.
