OpenStreetMap
OpenStreetMap (abbreviated OSM) is a free, Open Database License, open geographic database, map database updated and maintained by a community of volunteers via open collaboration. Contributors collect data from surveying, surveys, trace from Aerial photography, aerial photo imagery or satellite imagery, and import from other freely licensed geodata sources. OpenStreetMap is Free content, freely licensed under the Open Database License and is commonly used to make electronic maps, inform turn-by-turn navigation, and assist in humanitarian aid and Data and information visualization, data visualisation. OpenStreetMap uses its own data model to store geographical features which can then be exported into other GIS file formats. The OpenStreetMap website itself is an Web mapping, online map, geodata search engine, and editor. OpenStreetMap was created by Steve Coast in response to the Ordnance Survey, the United Kingdom's national mapping agency, failing to release its data to the pub ...

OpenStreetMap Foundation
The OpenStreetMap Foundation (abbreviated OSMF) is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to support and enable the development of freely-reusable geospatial data. Founded in 2006, it is closely connected with the OpenStreetMap project, although its constitution does not prevent it supporting other projects. History The OpenStreetMap Foundation was registered in England and Wales on 22 August 2006 as a company limited by guarantee. In 2007, it held the first State of the Map conference in Manchester. In October 2009, the foundation announced that its members, rather than the OpenStreetMap contributors at large, would vote on changing OpenStreetMap's data license from Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike to the Open Database License. In September 2013, the foundation began accepting corporate memberships in an "associate member" (nonvoting) category. The initial corporate members were Geofabrik, Geotab, Naver, NextGIS, and Mapbox. In 2018, GlobalLogic was implicated ...

Open Service Mesh
Open Service Mesh (OSM) was a free and open source cloud native service mesh developed by Microsoft that ran on Kubernetes. Overview OSM was written in the Go programming language and designed to be a reference implementation of the ''Service Mesh Interface'' (SMI) specification, a standard interface for service meshes on Kubernetes. The software was based on the Envoy proxy server and allowed users to uniformly manage, secure, and get out-of-the-box observability features for highly dynamic microservice environments. The source code is licensed under MIT License and available on GitHub. Microsoft donated OSM to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation to ensure that it is community-led and has open governance. On May 4, 2023, the project announced it would be archived, ending CNCF investment in the project so that its contributors could focus on Istio. See also * Consul (software) * Envoy (software) The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) is a subsidiary of the Linux Fo ...

Austrian Student Mission
The Austrian student mission (ÖSM Österreichische Studentenmission - Christen an der Uni) is an evangelical Christian student movement with affiliate groups on university campuses in Austria. It is a member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. History The ÖSM is led by Christian students from a wide variety of backgrounds. They are united in a common desire to "make Jesus Christ known to students in Austria". Each group is also supported by a travel secretary, whose main tasks are encouragement and teaching of various biblical subjects. The ÖSM is not a church and does not want to compete with them, in fact it encourages every member to be a member of a local church. Activities organized by local ÖSM university groups are for instance bible study groups, talks, book tables or other events like movie nights. Almost every week there is some sort of event. Usually in April they meet together at a retreat in Schloss Mittersill (called 'Forum'), where talk ...

Montreal Symphony Orchestra
The Montreal Symphony Orchestra () is a Canadian symphony orchestra based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The orchestra’s home is the Montreal Symphony House at Place des Arts. History Several orchestras were precursor ensembles to the current OSM. One such orchestra was formed in 1897, which lasted ten years, and another was established in 1930, which lasted eleven. The current orchestra directly traces its roots back to 1934, when Wilfrid Pelletier formed an ensemble called Les Concerts Symphoniques. This ensemble gave its first concert January 14, 1935, under conductor Rosario Bourdon. The orchestra acquired its current name in 1954. In the early 1960s, as the Orchestra was preparing to move to new facilities at Place des Arts, patron and prominent Montreal philanthropist, John Wilson McConnell, purchased the 1727 '' Laub-Petschnikoff Stradivarius'' violin for Calvin Sieb, the Symphony's concertmaster. The orchestra has begun touring and some recording in the 1960s ...

Oncostatin M
Oncostatin M, also known as OSM, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''OSM'' gene. OSM is a pleiotropic cytokine that belongs to the interleukin 6 group of cytokines. Of these cytokines it most closely resembles leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) in both structure and function. As yet poorly defined, it is proving important in liver development, haematopoeisis, inflammation and possibly CNS development. It is also associated with bone formation and destruction. * OSM signals through cell surface receptors that contain the protein gp130. The type I receptor is composed of gp130 and LIFR, the type II receptor is composed of gp130 and OSMR. Discovery, isolation and cloning The human form of OSM was originally isolated in 1986 from the growth media of PMA treated U-937 histiocytic lymphoma cells by its ability to inhibit the growth of cell lines established from melanomas and other solid tumours. A robust protein, OSM is stable between pH2 and 11 and resistant to heati ...

Osmole (unit)
Osmotic concentration, formerly known as osmolarity, is the measure of solute concentration, defined as the number of osmoles (Osm) of solute per litre (L) of solution (osmol/L or Osm/L). The osmolarity of a solution is usually expressed as Osm/L (pronounced "osmolar"), in the same way that the molarity of a solution is expressed as "M" (pronounced "molar"). Whereas molarity measures the number of moles of solute per unit volume of solution, osmolarity measures the number of particles on dissociation of osmotically active material (''osmoles of solute particles)'' per unit volume of solution. This value allows the measurement of the osmotic pressure of a solution and the determination of how the solvent will diffuse across a semipermeable membrane (osmosis) separating two solutions of different osmotic concentration. Unit The unit of osmotic concentration is the ''osmole''. This is a non- SI unit of measurement that defines the number of moles of solute that contribute ...

OSM-9
OSM-9 also known as OSMotic avoidance abnormal family member 9 is a protein which in the nematode worm ''C. elegans'' is encoded by the ''osm-9'' gene. Function The OSM-9 protein is required for some olfactory and osmotic stimuli as well as a mechanosensory response to nose touch. This protein encodes a protein with ankyrin repeats and is closely related in sequence to the mammalian TRPV ion channels. OSM-9 controls the biosynthesis of serotonin via regulation of the expression of the enzyme tryptophan hydroxylase Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) is an enzyme () involved in the synthesis of the monoamine neurotransmitter serotonin. Tyrosine hydroxylase, phenylalanine hydroxylase, and tryptophan hydroxylase together constitute the family of biopterin-depen .... References Further reading * Proteins {{protein-stub ...

Honda OSM
The Honda OSM (Open Study Model) was a concept car that was revealed at the 2008 London Motor Show. The concept vehicle was designed by Honda's R&D facility in Offenbach, Germany. The lightweight roadster design was to showcase that Honda has the capability of producing a low-emissions car that is sporty and fun to drive. Honda has announced that it has no plan for the car to be released as a production model, despite being speculated by car enthusiasts as a preview for a potential replacement of the aging Honda S2000 convertible. It was also speculated that the similar size and design language hinted at a convertible version of the Honda CR-Z, which was then yet to be released. Design and features The dashboard design concept was inspired by the Honda civic (eighth generation), more specifically the European hatchback model, and became a consistent design choice for later Honda sedan models in the following years such as the Honda Insight (second generation) in 2010 and Hond ...
