O.A.R. (band)
O.A.R. (short for Of A Revolution) is an American rock band, founded in 1996 in Rockville, Maryland. The band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Marc Roberge, drummer Chris Culos, guitarist Richard On, bassist Benj Gershman, and saxophonist/guitarist Jerry DePizzo. Touring members include trumpet player Jon Lampley and keyboardist Mikel Paris. Known for their live shows and extensive summer touring, the band has released ten studio albums and six live records—most recently ''Live From Boston'' in December 2024. Four of its members grew up in Rockville and attended Thomas S. Wootton High School. After graduating, they studied at Ohio State University, where they met DePizzo from Youngstown, Ohio. Thomas S. Wootton High School or Wootton High School (WHS) is a public high school in Rockville, Maryland. Its namesake is Thomas S. Wootton, the founder of Montgomery County, Maryland. The school was founded in 1970 and is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools system. Its school colors are red, white, and blue. The mascot is reflected in the names of the football team (Wootton Patriots) and in the theater department (Wootton Patriot Players). It is a format in which the genre is geared more towards an adult audience who are not into hard rock, hip hop, or soft adult contemporary fare. The main genres within this format are a mix of soft and energetic adult contemporary music alongside adult alternative rock and adult-oriented pop music. Alternative Airplay (formerly known as Modern Rock Tracks between 1988 and 2009, and Alternative Songs between 2009 and 2020) is a music chart published in the American magazine ''Billboard'' since September 10, 1988. It ranks the 40 most-played songs on alternative and modern rock radio stations. Introduced as Modern Rock Tracks, the chart served as a companion to the Mainstream Rock chart (then called Album Rock Tracks), and its creation was prompted by the explosion of alternative music on American radio in the late 1980s. During the first several years of the chart, it regularly featured music that did not receive commercial radio airplay anywhere but on a few modern rock and college rock radio stations. ''Stories of a Stranger'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band O.A.R. (Of a Revolution). The album was released on October 4, 2005 by Everfine Records and Lava Records; it debuted (and peaked) at #40 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Three songs from ''Stories of a Stranger'' were released as singles, "Love and Memories" in 2005 as well as "Heard the World" and "Lay Down" in 2006. "Love and Memories" was at the time their best charting single, peaking at #98 in the Pop 100, #30 in the Modern Rock Tracks chart and #18 in the Adult Top 40. Bonus disc A bonus disc was packaged with this album that featured live tracks recorded at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
