Nova (Dutch TV Series)
''NOVA'' was a late-evening current affairs programme, initially co-produced by VARA and NOS, and latterly by VARA and NPS, alongside ''Den Haag Vandaag'' ("The Hague Today"), the segment of the programme covering events in parliament and interviews with politicians, which was produced by the NOS. It was broadcast as ''NOVA/Den Haag Vandaag'' from Monday to Saturday, on Nederland 3 from 1992 to 2006, and from 2006 to 2010 on Nederland 2. The programme was also broadcast on the Dutch language international channel, BVN. History NOVA was first broadcast on 28 September 1992 on Nederland 3, as a result of the merger of two programmes: ''NOS-Laat'', produced by the NOS, and ''Achter het Nieuws'', produced by VARA. The name of the programme, ''NOVA'', was chosen as a portmanteau of the names of NOS and VARA, with the extra result of it being Latin for "new". Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that the events are discussed immediately. EénVandaag (''OneToday'') is a current affairs (news format), current affairs programme broadcast on the Netherlands, Dutch public television network NPO 1 (formerly Nederland 1), The programme, which airs on Monday to Saturday evenings at 6:15pm CET is a co-production of the broadcasting associations AVRO (broadcaster), AVRO and TROS, and since 2014 AVROTROS. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk (; born 8 September 1960) is a Dutch journalist and television presenter. He is best known for hosting the daily ''De Wereld Draait Door'' (DWDD) television show from 2005 to 2020. Biography Matthijs van Nieuwkerk was born in Amsterdam. In 1980 he started his study Dutch language at the University of Amsterdam, which he never finished.
