Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel was a former parish municipality in Le Haut-Richelieu Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region of Quebec. On September 13, 2001, it ceased to exist and merged with the village municipality of Lacolle to form the new municipality of Lacolle. Montérégie () is an administrative region in the southwest part of Quebec. It includes the cities of Boucherville, Brossard, Châteauguay, Longueuil, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Vaudreuil-Dorion. The region had a population of 1,507,070 as of the 2016 census and a land area of , giving it a population density of 135.4 inhabitants/km2 (350 per sq. mi.). Lacolle, Quebec
Lacolle () is a municipality in southern Quebec, Canada, located in the administrative area of the Montérégie, on the Canada–United States border. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 2,680. The Lacolle River runs eastward through the middle of the town and empties in Richelieu River. More people cross the border illegally from the United States there than at any other point. Almost nineteen thousand people were detained in 2017. The nearest town across the border is Champlain, New York. History The written history of Lacolle can be traced back to July 4, 1609, when Samuel de Champlain and his entourage stopped briefly at the mouth of a small stream for a meal before continuing southward up the Richelieu River into the lake which now bears his name. South Shore Protestant Regional School Board
The South Shore Protestant Regional School Board (SSPRSB) was a Protestant Christian school district in Greater Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It served the South Shore region and it was headquartered in St. Lambert. The district operated elementary and secondary schools that served students from the St. Lawrence School Board and the South Centre School Board areas. The Richelieu Valley School Board operated its own elementary schools but secondary students from that board attended South Shore. In 1967 the board of education of the school district had nine members.
