The Norwegian Cancer Society ( no, Kreftforeningen) is a non-profitmaking organisation in Norway. History It was established as no, Norsk Forening til Kreftens Bekjempelse, label=none in 1938, and took the current name when it merged with no, Landsforeningen mot Kreft, label=none in 1948. Its purpose is to help patients with cancer, increase awareness of cancer and to fund cancer research. The society funds the annual King Olav V's Prize for Cancer Research. Anne Lise Ryel
Anne Lise Ryel (born 7 June 1958) is a Norwegian jurist and politician for the Labour Party. Born in Tromsø, she graduated as cand.jur. from the University of Oslo in 1987. In 1994 she became the new Norwegian ombudsman for gender equality, taking over for Ingse Stabel. She held this position until 2000. During the first cabinet Stoltenberg, Ryel was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice. She held the position until the 2001 election, which caused the cabinet to fall. Ryel later became general director of the Norwegian Cancer Association. From 2007 to 2009 she is a board member of the Federation of Norwegian Commercial and Service Enterprises. Cancer
Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss, and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate cancer, they can also have other causes. Over 100 types of cancers affect humans. Tobacco use is the cause of about 22% of cancer deaths. Cancer research is research into cancer to identify causes and develop strategies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality.
