North Pine River
The North Pine River is a minor river located in South East Queensland, Australia. Location and features The North Pine River rises in the D'Aguilar Range in the Mount Mee State Forest, approximately northwest of Brisbane, and flows generally southeast to form its confluence with the South Pine River at Lawnton, where the river forms the Pine River. The river flows mostly through the Moreton Bay Region, just to the south of Dayboro. Along with Kobble Creek it is dammed at Whiteside to form the North Pine Dam, an artificial lake called Lake Samsonvale. This catchment provides drinking water to Redcliffe, Pine Rivers, Caboolture and the northern suburbs of Brisbane. After the North Pine Dam, the North Pine River continues through the suburbs of Petrie and Lawnton, where it meets with the South Pine River and forms the Pine River, flowing into Bramble Bay. Petrie is a suburb in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Petrie had a population of 8,674 people. Geography The southern boundary of the suburb is marked by the North Pine River. Petrie is a suburban village with new housing developments on land which was previously used for pine plantations and agriculture. Queensland Lungfish
The Australian lungfish (''Neoceratodus forsteri''), also known as the Queensland lungfish, Burnett salmon and barramunda, is the only surviving member of the family Neoceratodontidae. It is one of only six extant lungfish species in the world. Endemic to Australia, the Neoceratodontidae are an ancient family belonging to the class Sarcopterygii, or lobe-finned fishes. Fossil records of this group date back 380 million years, around the time when the higher vertebrate classes were beginning to evolve. Lake Kurwongbah
The Sideling Creek Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam with an un-gated spillway across the Sideling Creek in Kurwongbah, Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. The main purposes of the dam are for potable water supply of the Moreton Bay Region and for recreation. The impounded reservoir is called Lake Kurwongbah. Location and features The dam is located east of North Pine Dam and northwest of Petrie. The primary inflow is Sideling Creek, a tributary of the North Pine River. To the east of the dam is the Lakeside Park motor racing circuit. Completed in 1958, the earthfill dam structure is high and long. The dam wall holds back the reservoir when at full capacity. Hornibrook Bridge
Hornibrook Bridge is a heritage-listed mostly-demolished road bridge on the Hornibrook Highway over Hays Inlet at Bramble Bay from Brighton, City of Brisbane to Clontarf, Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Manuel Hornibrook and built from 1932 to 1935 by Manuel Hornibrook. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 7 October 1994. Handsome art-deco concrete abutment arches frame the entry and exit approaches. Construction of the bridge was important for the growth of the Redcliffe City peninsula and made the commute to Brisbane shorter and quicker, increasing population growth and the number of visitors to the seaside location. Bramble Bay
Bramble Bay is an embayment of Moreton Bay in South East Queensland, Australia. The Brisway map reference is 12 H5, or see page 91 G19 in Refidex. The Houghton Highway, Hornibrook Bridge and Ted Smout Memorial Bridge span Bramble Bay, connecting Redcliffe with Brisbane. The Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race begins in Bramble Bay. Activities for the annual race are centred on the Shorncliffe pier and nearby foreshore. Bramble Bay is the most environmentally degraded part of Moreton Bay.
