Nippon Paper Cranes
The were an Asia League Ice Hockey team based in Kushiro City in Hokkaidō, Japan. History The club was founded as Jūjō Paper Kushiro Ice Hockey Club in 1949. They adopted the new name Nippon Paper Cranes in 1993 when Jūjō Paper and Sanyō Kokusaku Pulp merged to form Nippon Paper. They won the inaugural Asia League Ice Hockey title in the 2003–04 season, and have won it four times overall. They also have won the All Japan Ice hockey Championship seven times. After the 2018–19 season, the team was dissolved due to financial difficulties, and was replaced by the East Hokkaido Cranes. Kushiro
is a city in Kushiro Subprefecture on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. It serves as the subprefecture's capital and it is the most populated city in the eastern part of the island. Ray DiLauro
Ray DiLauro (born July 13, 1979) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 9th round (246th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Career After playing Youth Hockey for the Philadelphia Glaciers and Tier III Junior "A" Ice Hockey for the Philadelphia Little Flyers, DiLauro played High School Ice Hockey for the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, New York. DiLauro then attended St. Lawrence University where he played four seasons of NCAA Division I Ice Hockey with the Saint Lawrence Saints from 1998- 2002. While at St. Lawrence, DiLauro served as an Alternate Captain during the 2001-02 season, won the 2002 '' Pete McGeough Award'' as the team's outstanding Defenseman, and won both the 2000 ECAC Championship and the 2001 ECAC Championship. Mike Madill
Mike Madill (born May 9, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was formerly General Manager and Head Coach of the last professional team he played with, the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL. Madill attended St. Lawrence University where he played NCAA Division I hockey with the St. Lawrence Saints men's ice hockey team. Madill spent the 2010–11 season playing in Japan with the Nippon Paper Cranes. Brad Tiley
Bradley Phillip Tiley (born July 5, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Playing career Born in Markdale, Ontario, Tiley was drafted 84th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He played junior hockey with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. Tiley played eleven NHL games, nine with the Phoenix Coyotes and two with the Philadelphia Flyers, scoring no points and no penalty minutes. He also played one playoff game for the Coyotes during the 1998–99 NHL season. Tiley finished his playing career with the Nippon Paper Cranes in Japan. Kelly Fairchild
Kelly G. Fairchild (born April 9, 1973) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He played in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche between 1996 and 2002. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1994 to 2009, was spent in various minor leagues, as well as time in Europe and Asia. Playing career Fairchild was selected in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings in the 7th round, 152nd overall. He attended Grand Rapids High School and was a standout play-maker before committing to a collegiate career with the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey, University of Wisconsin in 1991. Tyson Nash
Tyson Scott Nash (born March 11, 1975) is a Canadian former ice hockey left winger. He announced his retirement on September 11, 2008. He last played for the Nippon Paper Cranes in Japan during the 2007–08 season. Hockey Nash spent his first five seasons in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues, in his early years, in the role of a pest, specializing in drawing penalties from members of opposing teams. He spent the next two seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Coyotes for Mikael Tellqvist and a 4th round draft pick on November 28, 2006. On November 22, 2007, he signed with the Nippon Paper Cranes in Japan. The Cranes finished the season in second place, behind the Oji Eagles. Jamie McLennan (born June 30, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who is now an analyst for TSN, TSN Radio 1050, NBC Sports and NHL Network. He spent eleven seasons in the National Hockey League with the New York Islanders (1993–96), St. Louis Blues (1997–2000), Minnesota Wild (2000–01), Calgary Flames (2002–04, 2006–07), New York Rangers (2004) and Florida Panthers (2005–06). Derek Plante
Derek John Plante (born January 17, 1971) is an American ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player. Plante played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers. He was a member of the 1999 Stanley Cup champion Dallas Stars. He was an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 2010-2015 before returning to the program as Associate Head Coach in 2020, a position he holds to this day. Chris Lindberg
Christopher Lawrence Lindberg (born April 16, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Lindberg was a member of the Canadian 1992 Winter Olympics ice hockey team, winning a silver medal. He would also play professionally in the National Hockey League with the Calgary Flames and the Quebec Nordiques. He was claimed by the Ottawa Senators in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft from Calgary, however just two days later, Lindberg was traded back to the Flames for Mark Osiecki.
