Nigeria National Under-19 Cricket Team
The Nigeria Under-19 cricket team represents Nigeria in Under-19 cricket at the international level. It took part in the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification ICC Africa Division One tournament, held in Namibia. Nigeria defeated pre-tournament favourites Namibia by 52 runs, Uganda by 30 runs and Kenya by 58 runs. Nigeria won the tournament and qualified for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa for the first time. They finished in 15th place in the tournament, out of 16 teams, beating Japan in the final placement match. Sylvester Okpe
Sylvester Okpe (born 7 December 2000) is a Nigerian cricketer, a former captain of the Nigeria under-19 cricket team, and the current captain of the Nigeria national cricket team. Under-19 Cricket
The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) contested by national under-19 teams. First contested in 1988, as the Youth World Cup, it was not staged again until 1998. Since then, the World Cup has been held as a biennial event, organised by the ICC. The first edition of the tournament had only eight participants, but every subsequent edition has included sixteen teams. 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualification
The 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification was an international 50-over cricket tournament played to qualify for 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Qualified teams Africa Division 2 It was held in Potchefstroom, South Africa from 19 to 28 August 2018. The top three teams (Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Tanzania national under-19 cricket team, Tanzania) were promoted to Division 1 where they competed with Kenya, Namibia and Uganda. 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament that was held in South Africa from 17 January to 9 February 2020. It was the thirteenth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the second to be held in South Africa. Sixteen teams took part in the tournament, split into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group advanced to the Super League, with the bottom two teams in each group progressing to the Plate League. India were the defending champions. In the first Super League semi-final, India beat Pakistan by ten wickets to advance to the final, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten century.
