Nicholas Andrew Rey
Nicholas Andrew Rey (23 January 1938, Warsaw, Poland – 13 January 2009, Washington, D.C.) was an American diplomat, businessman, and United States Ambassador to Poland (from 1993 to 1997), affiliated with the Democratic Party. Life Rey was born in Warsaw, Poland, and as an infant (at about two years old) fled the country with his family right after the beginning of World War II. In 1946 he became a naturalized United States citizen. He graduated from Princeton and Johns Hopkins universities, and worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and Bear Stearns. Rey died in Washington, D.C. A memorial service was held on January 30 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Washington D.C. He was married, and had three children. The history of ambassadors of the United States to Poland began in 1919. Until the end of World War I, Poland had been partitioned between Russia, Germany, and Austria-Hungary. After the war and the collapse of the empires, Poland became an independent republic in 1918. Mark Francis Brzezinski (born April 7, 1965) is an American lawyer serving as the United States Ambassador to Poland since 2022. Edward Leon Rowny (April 3, 1917 – December 17, 2017) was a United States Army lieutenant general of Polish extraction. He was a commanding officer in World War II and Korea, a military advisor to five United States presidents and a negotiator on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. Early life and family Edward L.
