New Mexico True Television
New Mexico True Television is an American educational and travel television series hosted by Michael Newman. The host travels to various parts of the state of New Mexico and shows the histories of attractions, people, and locations; all while he gives travel advice for potential tourists and imparts educational information for locals and regular visitors. It premiered on June 16, 2014 and is produced by Cliffdweller Productions. The show is funded by the New Mexico Tourism Department, as part of the state's broader New Mexico True tourism campaign. It is currently syndicated in New Mexico and Texas, on KOB, KFOX-TV, KLCW-TV. Very Large Array
The Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) is a centimeter-wavelength radio astronomy observatory located in central New Mexico on the Plains of San Agustin, between the towns of Magdalena and Datil, ~ west of Socorro. The VLA comprises twenty-eight 25-meter radio telescopes (twenty-seven of which are operational while one is always rotating through maintenance) deployed in a Y-shaped array and all the equipment, instrumentation, and computing power to function as an interferometer. Carrizozo Malpais
The Carrizozo volcanic field is a monogenetic volcanic field located in New Mexico, US. The volcanic field consists of two lava flows, the Broken Back flow and the Carrizozo lava flow (Carrizozo Malpais), the second youngest in New Mexico. Roswell () is a city in, and the County seat, seat of, Chaves County, New Mexico, Chaves County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Roswell Museum And Art Center
The Roswell Museum (formerly Roswell Museum and Art Center) was founded in 1936 and is located in Roswell, New Mexico, United States. The museum features exhibits about the art and history of the American Southwest, as well as the Robert H. Goddard laboratory. The museum operates the Patricia Lubben Bassett Art Education Center, opened in 1998, as a learning facility. The facility houses two classrooms, a ceramics studio, and research library, all of which supports a museum-school-community creative exchange that provides arts education opportunities for all ages. Lincoln, New Mexico
Lincoln is an unincorporated village in Lincoln County, New Mexico, United States. Description The community sits in the Bonito Valley between the Sacramento Mountains and the Capitan Mountains at an elevation of 5,696 feet. The village is located approximately 57 miles (92 km) west of Roswell (by road) and just south of the Lincoln National Forest. Fort Stanton
Fort Stanton was a United States Army fort near Lincoln, New Mexico. Army Fort It was built in 1855 by the 1st Dragoon and the 3rd and 8th Infantry Regiments to serve as a base of military operations against the Mescalero Apaches. Numerous campaigns were fought from 1855 until the 1880s. It was established to protect Hispano and White settlements along the Rio Bonito in the Apache Wars. Kit Carson, John "Black Jack" Pershing, Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th Cavalry all lived here. Confederate forces occupied the outpost in 1861, at the beginning of the American Civil War. This U.S. military fortification was abandoned with the withdrawal of U.S. forces in 1896. Ski Apache
Ski Apache is a ski resort located in southern New Mexico on the slopes of Sierra Blanca mountains. It is owned and operated, since 1963, by the Mescalero Apache Tribe. Ski Apache was the only ski resort in New Mexico with its own gondola lift, until Taos Ski Valley obtained a gondola lift but it doesn’t serve ski runs, but connects the childrens center to the base making the Gondola at Apache the only true Gondola lift in the entire state. Runs in the resort include Apache Bowl, an intermediate run on the upper west side of the mountain known for its wide, open space, and views from the top of Chairlift 6; Capitan, a steep, challenging pitch that drops 475 feet; and the Gondola Liftline, a steep and narrow advanced run that runs from the top of the mountain to the main lodge.
