NewSong
NewSong is an American contemporary Christian music group that was founded in 1981, at Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. They have had twelve GMA Dove Award nominations, and one Grammy Award Nomination. They are also the founders of the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, the United States' largest annual Christian music tour. It began in 1995, and is hosted by NewSong. Winter Jam has had many of the most popular Contemporary artists perform each year, including TobyMac, Hillsong UNITED, Newsboys, Lecrae, MercyMe, and Skillet. NewSong has frequently provided support for organizations working with abandoned and underprivileged children. For years they worked with World Vision, a humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their community to rid them of poverty and injustice. Michael O'Brien (musician)
Michael David O'Brien (born August 23, 1964) is an American Christian musician and worship leader, who primarily plays Christian pop and contemporary worship music. He released eight solo albums since 1990. He was a touring member of the Heritage Singers, before becoming a full-fledged member of NewSong, in 1999. Early and personal life Michael David O'Brien was born on August 23, 1964, in Miami, Florida, where he resided until he was 11 years old. Then he moved to Lafayette, Louisiana where he got involved in music at Comeaux High School. He graduated there and attended USL studying vocal performance. He worked as a bartender in several restaurants and then in his early-twenties, moved back to Miami to live with his sister Dana for a couple of years. Charles Billingsley (born January 7, 1970 in Clovis, NM) is a Preacher, christian singer, worship leader, songwriter, speaker and author. Career Billingsley began his solo career the day after he graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 1992. After two years, he joined the contemporary Christian music group NewSong. In 1994, they released ''People Get Ready'' featuring "Arise My Love." That album had four number one hits. Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, also referred to as simply Winter Jam (and formerly known as January Jam from 1995–2000), is an annual American music tour featuring contemporary Christian music artists of all genres, stunt and/or comedy performances, as well as a tour speaker. Valdosta is a city in and the county seat of Lowndes County, Georgia, United States. As of 2019, Valdosta had an estimated population of 56,457. Truth (American Band)
Truth was an American Contemporary Christian group, active from 1971 to 2001. Formed by John Roger Breland, the ensemble's name stands for "Trust, Receive, Unchangeable, True Happiness n Jesus. It was initially composed of some 15 members who toured extensively year-round, eventually recording frequently as well. It eventually expanded to 22 members and continued touring regularly for thirty years, dissolving in 2001. In 2000, the group was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Robert Mason "Bob" Carlisle (born September 29, 1956) is an American Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter. He performed with several bands, most notably Allies and Billy Thermal, before launching a solo career where he received a Grammy Award and four Dove Awards. Career Carlisle is best known for his hit song " Butterfly Kisses", which appeared on his third solo album. That album, originally titled ''Shades of Grace'', was later re-released as '' Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace)'', because of the success of the single. He co-wrote this song with his songwriting partner from Allies, Randy Thomas, and for this, they won the 1997 Grammy Award for Best Country Song and three Dove Awards, including Song of the Year.
