Kėdainiai () is one of the oldest List of cities in Lithuania, cities in Lithuania. It is located north of Kaunas on the banks of the Nevėžis River. First mentioned in the 1372 Livonian Chronicle of Hermann de Wartberge, its population is 23,667. Its old town dates to the 17th century. Kaunas District Municipality (''Kauno rajono savivaldybė'') is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania. The seat of the municipality is the city of Kaunas, which does not belong to the municipality but is a separate administrative unit. Šušvė
Šušvė is a river in central Lithuania, a right (the longest) tributary of the Nevėžis river. It begins in Kelmė district municipality, 6 km (4 mi) southeast from Tytuvėnai. The river passes through Tytuvėnai and Sulinkiai Marshes and flows south through Radviliškis district municipality. Finally, Šušvė passes through Kėdainiai district municipality and flows into the Nevėžis near Graužiai village. The width of the river valley is between 0.5 and 3 km. From December to March Šušvė is usually frozen. Dams were built at Vaitiekūnai and Angiriai ( Angiriai Reservoir). The Šušvė Hydrological Sanctuary was established in 1992 to protect the lower courses of the river. Smilga (river)
The Smilga is a river in the Kėdainiai district municipality, in Kaunas County, central Lithuania. It flows for and has a basin area of . It begins near the village of Patranys, in Krakės Eldership. The Smilga river flows mostly in a southeasterly direction through the Josvainiai Forest. It joins the Nevėžis in the centre of Kėdainiai. The valley in upper and middle courses is negligible, though in becomes steep in the lower course. The course at some places is straightened. The Dotnuvėlė is a river of Kėdainiai district municipality and Radviliškis district municipality, Kaunas County, central Lithuania. It flows for 60.9 kilometres and has a basin area of 192.7 km2. The Liaudė is a river in central Lithuania, flowing through Kėdainiai district municipality, Radviliškis district municipality and Panevėžys district municipality. It flows for and has a basin area of . It is the right tributary of the Nevėžis river. The river originates by the Vakarai, Radviliškis, Vakarai village near Pociūnėliai.
