Netherlands Forensic Institute
The Netherlands Forensic Institute (Dutch ''Nederlands Forensisch Instituut'') is the national forensics institute of the Netherlands, located in the Ypenburg quarter of The Hague. It is an autonomous division of the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice and falls under the Directorate-General for the Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement. History On 30 July 1945, the government decided to set up a Justice Laboratory. Three years later, on 4 November 1948, the laboratory became a department of the Ministry of Justice. A similar institution was founded in 1951: ''Gerechtelijk Geneeskundig Laboratorium'' (Judicial Medical Laboratory), which was later renamed ''Laboratorium voor Gerechtelijke Pathologie'' Laboratory for Judicial Pathology which were located at the building in The Hague which was later used by Europol. Forensic science, also known as criminalistics, is the application of science to criminal and civil laws, mainly—on the criminal side—during criminal investigation, as governed by the legal standards of admissible evidence and criminal procedure. Leidschenveen-Ypenburg
Leidschenveen-Ypenburg () is a Vinex-location and district of The Hague, located in the southeast. It is geographically connected to the main body of the city by only a narrow corridor. It consists of four quarters: Hoornwijk and Ypenburg on the southwest of the A12 motorway and parallel railway to Utrecht, and Forepark and Leidschenveen on the northeast. Since 2005 the district has its own railway station, Den Haag Ypenburg, situated on the Gouda–Den Haag railway. Two highway nodes are located in the district: Knooppunt Ypenburg and the Prins Clausplein. History Until 1992 Ypenburg was a military airfield known as Ypenburg Airport. Pathology is the study of the causes and effects of disease or injury. The word ''pathology'' also refers to the study of disease in general, incorporating a wide range of biology research fields and medical practices. Deventer Murder Case
The Deventer murder case is a murder case which took place in the Dutch city of Deventer in 1999. It has become a cause célèbre because the murder has officially been solved, but not everybody agrees with the final judgment of the court. The case has been re-opened twice. The first time this was done because the evidence previously used for the conviction had proven to be incorrect, while the second time there were strong clues that another suspect's testimony about his whereabouts during the time of the murder did not match real facts.
