Neil Turk
Neil Richard Keith Turk (born 28 April 1983, Cuckfield) was an English cricketer. He is a left-handed specialist batsman with occasional right-arm medium-pace bowling, as well as a FIFA approved referee. Furthermore, Neil Turk studied Sports Science at Exeter University from 2001-2004. He used to play club cricket for Wimbledon CC in the ECB Surrey Premier League, where he was 1st team captain. Turk received an official berth in the Sussex County Cricket Club, Sussex squad in 2005, though his debut for the county's second XI came in July 2002, and his debut for the first XI in September at Essex County Cricket Club, Essex where he scored 36, which remained his highest List A cricket, List A score. At the end of 2006 English cricket season, the 2006 season, Turk was released from Sussex, with his "perceived lack of future opportunity" cited as reason for his departure. Cuckfield
Cuckfield ( ) is a village and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the Mid Sussex District, Mid Sussex District of West Sussex, England, on the southern slopes of the Weald. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. 2006 English Cricket Season
The 2006 English cricket season was the 107th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. It included home international series for England against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. England came off a winter with more Test losses than wins, for the first time since 2002-03, but still attained their best series result in India since 1985. The One Day International series against Pakistan and India both ended in losses. Sri Lanka toured England for cricket matches during the 2006 international cricket season. England were back home for the first time since September and looked to maintain their Test standards, which saw them keep their second place in the ICC Test Championship in India, and the teams were also competing for sixth place in the ICC ODI Championship as both England and Sri Lanka were coming off the back of two lost ODI tours on the Asian sub-continent, against India and Pakistan respectively.
