Nazareth () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of and Nazareth proper. In 2021, Nazareth had a total population of 11,844. The total area is 35.19 km² which gives a population density of 320 inhabitants per km². Etymology There are various hypotheses for the origin of the name "Nazareth", dated to a text of songs from 1259 CE. It is possible that Nazareth was named after the biblical city of Nazareth. It is also possible, but less likely, that Nazareth was originally a slip of the word ''magherhet'' (thinness). History The community was first recorded in 1259. The Arrondissement of Ghent (; ) is the largest of the six administrative arrondissements in the Province of East Flanders, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. However, the Judicial Arrondissement of Ghent also comprises the municipalities of the Arrondissement of Eeklo. History The Arrondissement of Ghent was created in 1800 as the first arrondissement in the Department of Escaut (). Sint-Martens-Latem () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders, in Belgium. The municipality comprises the towns of Deurle and Sint-Martens-Latem proper. Deinze () is a city and a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. De Pinte
De Pinte () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. Before its existence as an independent municipality in 1868, De Pinte was a part of Nazareth. The municipality comprises the towns of De Pinte proper and Zevergem. In 2021, De Pinte had a total population of 10,990. The total area is 17.78 km². History The name of the municipality is issued from an inn, which was called "Het Pijntken", which was situated in the actual Pintestraat 69, and which was firstly used as the name of the municipality when it became independent of Nazareth on 2.
