Greenlandic Football Championship
The Greenlandic Football Championship ( kl, Isikkamik Arsaalluni Pissartanngorniunneq, GM, da, Grønlandsmesterskab i fodbold) is the premier men's football competition in Greenland. It was established in 1954 and since 1971, it has been organised by the Football Association of Greenland. This association is not a part of FIFA or any other continental confederations. B-67 is the most successful football team to have won the championship. Format The championship is often called an unusual and unique tournament as the finals last only one week. This is because football clubs in the large country are so far apart. Greenland has no roads between cities, so expensive air or lenghthy sea travel is needed. Therefore the competition has several regional qualifiers, hosted at a single location, before the finals of 8 teams (as of 2022) are hosted at a single location, which changes year-on-year. These locations have included Ammassalik, Nanortalik and Kangaatsiaq. Previous winners ...

Ilulissat
Ilulissat, formerly Jakobshavn or Jacobshaven, is the municipal seat and largest town of the Avannaata municipality in western Greenland, located approximately north of the Arctic Circle. With the population of 4,670 as of 2020, it is the third-largest city in Greenland, after Nuuk and Sisimiut. The city is home to almost as many sled-dogs as people. In direct translation, Ilulissat is the Kalaallisut word for "Icebergs" ( da, Isbjerge). The nearby Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has made Ilulissat the most popular tourist destination in Greenland. Tourism is now the town's principal industry. The city neighbours the Ilulissat Icefjord, where there are enormous icebergs from the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere. History The town was established as a trading post by Jacob Severin's company in 1741 and was named in his honor.Marquardt, Ole.Change and Continuity in Denmark's Greenland Policy in ''The Oldenburg Monarchy: An Underest ...

B-67 Nuuk
Boldklubben af 1967 (also known as B-67 or B-67 Nuuk) is a sports club from Greenland based in Nuuk. They compete in football, badminton and handball. In 2016 they won the Coca Cola GM by defeating Nagdlunguaq-48 3–1. In the 1980s they were a small club in the heart of Nuuk. They mainly focused on youth development during the mid-1980s, significantly helping this side's rise to fame. B-67 took part in many competitions but went without a trophy for 25 years. In 1993, the club began to grow with the signings of elite Nordic players and training facilities grew, massively impacting the squad. With better coaching, this B-67 side won 85% of their senior matches and played in 8 finals after 1988, yet winning none. Eleven players from B-67 Nuuk played for the Greenland national football team. In the Island Games, they placed 5th. B-67 played several matches against teams in Iceland and the Faroe Islands with an average win rate of 74%. They had success in Copenhagen, Reykjaví ...

Football Clubs In Greenland
Football is a family of team sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball to score a goal. Unqualified, the word ''football'' normally means the form of football that is the most popular where the word is used. Sports commonly called ''football'' include association football (known as ''soccer'' in North America and Australia); gridiron football (specifically American football or Canadian football); Australian rules football; rugby union and rugby league; and Gaelic football. These various forms of football share to varying extent common origins and are known as "football codes". There are a number of references to traditional, ancient, or prehistoric ball games played in many different parts of the world. Contemporary codes of football can be traced back to the codification of these games at English public schools during the 19th century. The expansion and cultural influence of the British Empire allowed these rules of football to spread to areas of British ...
