''Nýtt Líf'' (, English: ''New Life'') is an Cinema of Iceland, Icelandic film directed by Þráinn Bertelsson and released in 1983. The film is a comedy shot in the Vestmannaeyjar, Westman Islands and stars Eggert Þorleifsson and Karl Ágúst Úlfsson, among others. The music features several musicians including the band Tappi Tíkarrass (of which Björk was a member), which contributed the songs "Sperglar" and "Kukl" (a.k.a. "Seiður"). Synopsis The film is the first of three about the misadventures of two friends, Þór and Danni. Two friends working at a restaurant get fired from their jobs and after seeing an advertisement for the fishing industry of the Westman Islands, decide to go there and make some money. The islands become a perfect setting for many funny and strange situations, especially after word gets around that the two are spies from the Ministry of Fisheries. Þráinn Bertelsson
Þráinn Bertelsson (born 30 November 1944) is an Icelandic film director, writer, politician, journalist and newspaper editor. He moved into politics during the 2008–2012 Icelandic financial crisis, and was elected a member of the Althing in 2009, initially for the Citizens' Movement (Iceland), Citizens' Movement. He later left the party to become an independent Member of parliament, MP, before joining the Left-Green Movement, which he currently represents. Film production Þráinn has written, directed and produced seven feature films. ''On Top'' (Icelandic: ''Með allt á hreinu'' ()) is an Icelandic musical comedy from 1982, directed by Icelandic director Ágúst Guðmundsson. The film, which still enjoys widespread popularity in Iceland, tells the story of two bands (one all-male and one all-female) that go on a tour together and then become engaged in a rivalry. The cast is composed members of the pop bands Stuðmenn (also the name of the band in the film) and Grýlurnar (''Gærurnar'' in the film), and the film is largely based on performances by the two bands. According to Valgeir Guðjónsson the L.A.
