Nygård is a neighbourhood in the city centre of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located south of the Lille Lungegårdsvannet lake in the city centre and north of the Møhlenpris neighborhood. Grieghallen, St. Jacob's Church, and parts of the University of Bergen are located in Nygård. Counties Of Norway
There are 15 counties in Norway. The 15 county, counties are administrative division, administrative regions that are the first-level administrative divisions of Norway. The counties are further subdivided into 357 municipalities of Norway, municipalities (). The island territories of Svalbard and Jan Mayen are outside the county divisions and they are ruled directly from the national level. The capital city of Oslo is both a county and a municipality. In 2017, the Solberg's Cabinet, Solberg government decided to abolish some of the counties and to merge them with other counties to form larger ones, reducing the number of counties from 19 to 11, which was implemented on 1 January 2020. Grieg Hall () is a 1,500 seat concert hall located on Edvard Griegs' square in Bergen, Norway, Bergen, Norway. Grieghallen was named in honor of Bergen-born composer Edvard Grieg, who served as music director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1880 until 1882. Lille Lungegårdsvannet
Lille Lungegårdsvannet or Smålungeren is a small lake in the centre of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The octagonal lake is a natural lake that was historically connected to the nearby Store Lungegårdsvannet bay via a short strait, but the strait was filled in 1926. Today the lake is located in a park in the city centre. There is a large decorative fountain located in the central part of the lake. History Historically, the lake was much larger than it is now. As the city grew, Lille Lungegårdsvannet slowly but steadily shrank to its present size by adding fill to the sides of the lake to reclaim land. The sides were straightened and it was artificially made into an octagon shape. It finally reached its present shape during the mid-20th century.
