Nur ad-Din Masalha (, ; born 4 January 1957) is a Palestinian writer, historian, and academic. His work focuses on the history, politics, and theology of Palestine, including themes such as the Palestinian Nakba, Zionism, and liberation theology. Biography Early life and education Nur ad-Din Masalha was born on January 4, 1957, in Galilee. He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Politics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1979, followed by a Master of Arts in Middle East Politics in 1982. Masalha earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Middle Eastern Politics from the SOAS (University of London) in 1988. Academic career Masalha has held various academic and research positions throughout his career. Galilee (; ; ; ) is a region located in northern Israel and southern Lebanon consisting of two parts: the Upper Galilee (, ; , ) and the Lower Galilee (, ; , ). ''Galilee'' encompasses the area north of the Mount Carmel-Mount Gilboa ridge and south of the east-west section of the Litani River. It extends from the Israeli coastal plain and the shores of the Mediterranean Sea with Acre, Israel, Acre in the west, to the Jordan Valley to the east; and from the Litani in the north plus a piece bordering on the Golan Heights to Dan (ancient city), Dan at the base of Mount Hermon in the northeast, to Mount Carmel and Mount Gilboa in the south.
