Numminen, Mäntsälä
Numminen is a village in the southern part of the Mäntsälä municipality near the border of Pornainen in Uusimaa, Finland. More than 300 inhabitants live in the village. It is located along the Mustijoki River, about south of the Mäntsälä's municipal centre and about northwest of Kirveskoski, the municipal centre of Pornainen. There are three historic manors in the village: Nordbo (Ulriksdal), Ylikartano (Andersberg) and Alikartano (Frugård). Numminen has own primary school completed in 2013. The village includes the sports club Nummisten Vilkas and a hunting club. In 2023 parliamentary elections 32.5% of inhabitants of Numminen voted for the Finns Party. Mäntsälä (village)
Mäntsälän kirkonkylä () is the largest urban area and the municipal center of Mäntsälä in Uusimaa, Finland, with about 11,000 inhabitants. It is located from Järvenpää, from Hyvinkää, from Porvoo and from Lahti. The Mäntsälänjoki River flows through the area and joins the Mustijoki River further south, which runs all the way to the Gulf of Finland. Etymology The village name ''Mäntsälä'' appears in early written material in the form ''Mensela'', ''Menselä'', ''Mensilä'' (1458), ''Mensse'' (1516), ''Mentzeby'' (1540). The village name has evolved from the house name, which probably includes the early host's first name Mäntsä (or Mänssä). It has been interpreted as an abbreviation of the given name Clement. Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld
Nils Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld (; 18 November 183212 August 1901) was a Finland-Swedish aristocrat, geologist, mineralogist and Arctic explorer. He was a member of the noble Nordenskiöld family of scientists and held the title of a friherre (baron). Born in the Grand Duchy of Finland in the Russian Empire, he was forced to move to Sweden in 1857 due to his political activity, where he became a member of the Parliament of Sweden and of the Swedish Academy. He led the ''Vega'' Expedition along the northern coast of Eurasia in 1878–1879. This was the first complete crossing of the Northeast Passage. Initially a troubled enterprise, the successful expedition is considered to be among the highest achievements in the history of Swedish science. Outi Pieski
Outi Pieski (born 1973) is a Sámi visual artist from Finland whose paintings, collages and installations employ traditional handicrafts such as the tassels of Sámi shawls to depict the light and landscapes of the far north. In 2017, she was honoured with the Fine Arts Academy of Finland Award. Biography Born in Helsinki in 1973, Outi Pieski is the daughter of a Sámi father and a Finnish mother. She was raised in Helsinki where she attended the Visual Arts School and the Academy of Fine Arts where she graduated in 2000. She also studied at the Sámi Education Institute in Inari. Her paintings are frequently framed with the tassels of traditional Sámi shawls. She has also employed yarn, branches and ornamental quilts to enhance her works. Manor House
A manor house was historically the main residence of the lord of the manor. The house formed the administrative centre of a manor in the European feudal system; within its great hall were usually held the lord's manorial courts, communal meals with manorial tenants and great banquets. Kirveskoski
Kirveskoski (; officially ''Pornaisten kirkonkylä'') is a village of about 2000 inhabitants in Pornainen, Uusimaa, Finland, and the administrative center of the municipality. Next to the village is the Mustijoki, Mustijoki River (''Karjakoski'' by the village), which runs south to Porvoo and from there to the Gulf of Finland.
