Dead or Alive were an English pop band who released seven studio albums from 1984 to 2000. The band formed in 1979 in Liverpool and found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK Top 40 and three albums in the UK Top 30. At the peak of their success, the line-up consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Steve Coy (drums), Mike Percy (bass), and Tim Lever (keyboards), with the core pair of Burns and Coy writing and producing for the remainder of the band's career due to Percy and Lever exiting the group in 1989. Following Burns' death on October 23, 2016, the remaining members chose to disband Dead or Alive. Two of the band's singles reached the US Top 20 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100: "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" (No. 11 in August 1985), and " Brand New Lover" (No. 15 in March 1987). Peter Oxendale (born ) is an English forensic musicologist and an expert witness on copyright infringement in music. He was involved as an expert in the notable Blurred Lines lawsuit. He was a keyboardist in the glam rock bands Sparks and Jet and musical director for Chris de Burgh. Oxendale also played keyboards on Ian Hunter's ''Overnight Angels'' album in 1977. Peter James Wylie (born 22 March 1958) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known as the leader of the band variously known as Wah!, Wah! Heat, Shambeko! Say Wah!, JF Wah!, The Mighty Wah! and Wah! The Mongrel. Career Early bands Wylie was born on 22 March 1958 in Liverpool. He began his career in 1977 with lead vocalist Ian McCulloch (singer), Ian McCulloch and bassist Julian Cope, with whom he formed the band Crucial Three, which lasted from May to June the same year. Julian David Cope (born 21 October 1957) is an English musician and author. He was the singer and songwriter in Liverpool post-punk band the Teardrop Explodes and has followed a solo career since 1983 in addition to working on musical side projects such as Queen Elizabeth (band), Queen Elizabeth, Brain Donor and Black Sheep (anarcho-folk band), Black Sheep.
