Novara–Varallo Railway
The Novara–Varallo railway is a regional railway line of Piedmont in Italy, that connect Varallo to Novara railway node, crossing Valsesia. Since 2015, it is used only as a tourist railway and for freight service in the tract Novara-Romagnano Sesia. The tourist service is performed by historic trains of Fondazione FS, operated by Trenitalia, on specific dates. Regular passenger service was suspended from 15 September 2014, by decision of the Piedmont Region. History The railway was opened from 1883 to 1886. Borgosesia is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Vercelli in the Italian region Piedmont, located about northeast of Turin and about north of Vercelli. The largest town in Valsesia Valsesia (; Walser German: ''Tseschrutol'') is a group of valleys in the north-east of Piedmont in the Province of Vercelli, Italy; the principal valley is that of the river Sesia. Romagnano Sesia is a town and ''comune'' (municipality) of about 4,000 inhabitants in the Province of Novara in the Italy, Italian region Piedmont, located about northeast of Turin and about northwest of Novara. Romagnano Sesia borders the following municipalities: Cavallirio, Fontaneto d'Agogna, Gattinara, Ghemme, Prato Sesia, and Serravalle Sesia.
