The New Republic () is a political party in Romania. It was established in October 2011 as a grassroots movement inspired by a manifesto on blogs and center-right platforms. The movement grew and spawned more than 40 branches around the country. The first President was Mihail Neamțu, an intellectual who entered politics. The Vice President is George Mioc. On 16 March 2015, Neamțu announced he was stepping down to focus more on his family. George Mioc also left the party in 2015. On 19 September 2015, the party had the fourth Congress in Bucharest and voted a new statute and a new president. Mihail Neamțu
Mihail Neamțu (; born 16 April 1978), is a Romanian writer, philosopher, theologian, and politician. He received a PhD in theology from King's College London and has written several books on politics, religion, and culture. A conservative, he was elected in the Chamber of Deputies (Romania), Chamber of Deputies in 2024 Romanian legislative election, 2024 as a member of Alliance for the Union of Romanians, AUR. On June 23rd, 2025, he published a photo on social media of Oana Țoiu, the newly nominated Minister of Foreign Affairs. This was considered an inappropriate action, as Neamțu had altered the photo in a misleading way, making the minister look very different from reality. This is Mihail Neamțu. Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu
Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu (; born 22 September 1968) is a Romanian historian, politician who served as Prime Minister of Romania in 2012. He was the foreign minister of Romania from 28 December 2004 to 12 March 2007, and he was appointed as Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service later in 2007. Following the resignation of the Emil Boc government he was appointed prime minister serving through April 2012 when his cabinet was dismissed following a parliamentary vote of no-confidence. He was confirmed by the Parliament for a second term as Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, after President Klaus Iohannis nominated him in June 2015 but he resigned in September 2016, citing health issues. Technocracy
Technocracy is a form of government in which decision-makers appoint knowledge experts in specific domains to provide them with advice and guidance in various areas of their policy-making responsibilities. Technocracy follows largely in the tradition of other meritocracy, meritocratic theories and works best when the state exerts strong control over social and economic issues. The Conservative Party (, PC) was a conservative political party in Romania. It was founded in 1991, approximately two years after the fall of Communism in Romania, originally under the name Romanian Humanist Party (, PUR). From 2005 until 3 December 2006, the party was a junior member of the Government of Romania. The party adopted the name ''Conservative Party'' on 7 May 2005. The Party for the Homeland, Military and Police in Reserve and Retirement (, PPMPRR), sometimes shortened to the Party for the Homeland, Military and Police (, PPMP), and formerly known as the National Union for the Progress of Romania (, UNPR) is a political party in Romania. The Social Democratic Party (, PSD) is the largest political party in Romania. The Chamber of Deputies () is the lower house in Romania's bicameral parliament. It has 312 regular seats to which deputies are elected by direct popular vote using party-list proportional representation to serve four-year terms.
