Notts County Football Club is a professional football club in Nottingham, England, which competes in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of English football, following promotion from the National League in the 2022–23 season. Founded in 1862, Notts County are the oldest professional football club in the world. They first competed in the FA Cup in 1877 and in 1888 became one of the twelve founding members of the Football League. Notts County have been promoted fourteen times, relegated seventeen times and have played in each of the top five divisions of English football. Notts County won the FA Cup in 1894; their highest league finishes were third in 1890–91 and 1900–01. Meadow Lane
Meadow Lane is a football (soccer), football stadium in Nottingham, England. It is the home ground of Notts County F.C., Notts County, who have played there since it opened in 1910. The stadium was also home to Notts County Ladies F.C. from 2014 to 2017. It currently has an all-seated capacity of 19,841 for EFL games, although its maximum capacity is 20,229. The record attendance is 47,310, who watched Notts lose 1–0 to York City F.C., York City in the FA Cup Sixth Round on 12 March 1955. Jimmy Sirrel
James Sirrel (2 February 1922 – 25 September 2008) was a Scottish football player and manager. Born in Glasgow, Sirrel began his career with Celtic before moving to England, spending most of his playing career with Brighton & Hove Albion. Starting his management career in the Fourth Division with Brentford, Sirrel moved to Notts County where he achieved promotion to the Second Division, and then after a spell at Sheffield United returned to Notts County to achieve promotion to the First Division for the first time since 1926. He is regarded as a legend of the club, with the County Road Stand at Notts County's Meadow Lane named after him. Les Bradd
Les Bradd (born 5 November 1947) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is notable for being the all-time leading goalscorer for Notts County. Rotherham United Bradd started his league career at Rotherham who signed him from non-league club East Sterndale. His spell at Millmoor was a brief one, in which he only scored one goal which, ironically, was the winning goal against Notts County, the club with which he is most associated, in a League Cup tie. Albert Iremonger
Albert Iremonger (15 June 1884 – 9 March 1958) was a football goalkeeper, county-class cricketer and brother of sportsmen Harry Iremonger and James Iremonger. Early life Albert Iremonger was born in Wilford, Nottinghamshire on 15 June 1884. He was the younger brother of James Iremonger and older brother of Harry Iremonger. Footballing career Although Iremonger never played at an international level, he was widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of his time and is a local legend in his home county of Nottinghamshire. The Nottingham derby is the name given to football matches contested between Nottingham Forest and Notts County. History The two clubs are amongst the oldest football clubs in the World. Trent Bridge Cricket Ground is a cricket ground mostly used for Test cricket, Test, One-day cricket, One-Day International and county cricket located in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England, just across the River Trent from the city of Nottingham. Non-League football describes association football, football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. English Football League Play-offs
The English Football League (EFL) play-offs are a series of play-off matches contested by four association football teams finishing immediately below the automatic promotion places in the second, third and fourth tiers of the English football league system, namely the EFL Championship, EFL League One and EFL League Two. , the play-offs comprise two semi-finals, each conducted as a two-legged tie with games played at each side's home ground.
