''Not Now, Darling'' is a 1967 farce written by English playwrights John Chapman and Ray Cooney, first staged at the Richmond Theatre, in Richmond, England prior to a long West End run. The production starred Donald Sinden and Bernard Cribbins Bernard Joseph Cribbins (29 December 1928 – 27 July 2022) was an English actor and singer whose career spanned over eight decades. During the 1960s, Cribbins became known in the UK for his successful novelty records " The Hole in the Ground" ..., with Jill Melford, Mary Kenton, Brian Wilde, Carmel McSharry and Ann Sidney. It was adapted as a film in 1973; later in the decade, it made the rounds of US dinner theatres under the title "Make Mine Mink" (no relation to the 1960 film of the same name). John Roy Chapman (27 May 1927 – 3 September 2001) was a British actor, playwright and screenwriter, known for his collaborations with Ray Cooney. Biography Early life Born in Acton, John Chapman was the nephew of the actor Edward Chapman; his own father was an engineer. His brother, Paul Chapman, became an actor. Brian George Wilde (13 June 1927 – 20 March 2008) was an English actor best known for his roles in television comedy, most notably Mr Barrowclough in ''Porridge (1974 TV series), Porridge'' and Walter "Foggy" Dewhurst in ''Last of the Summer Wine''. ''Make Mine Mink'' is a 1960 British comedy farce film directed by Robert Asher and featuring Terry-Thomas, Athene Seyler, Hattie Jacques and Billie Whitelaw. It was based on the 1958 play ''Breath of Spring'' by Peter Coke, and its sequels. The screenplay concerns a group of eccentric misfits who go on a crime spree, stealing mink coats for charity in a Robin Hood-style gang. Ann Sidney
Ann Sidney (born 27 March 1944) is a British actress, television host and beauty queen who won the 1964 Miss World contest representing the United Kingdom. Early life Sidney moved to Poole when very young. She went to Martin Road School in Parkstone and then Martin Kemp-Welch secondary school, which later became St Aldhelm's Academy, leaving school at fifteen. She initially took an apprenticeship in hairdressing, working in salons in Bournemouth, but then decided that she would rather be a model. Miss World Sidney became the second woman from her country to win the title, after Rosemarie Frankland in 1961. The pageant was held in London on 12 November 1964. It was watched on television by a reported 27.2 million people in the UK alone. During her reign as Miss World, she travelled around the world five times and joined Bob Hope on his USO tour of Asia. Carmel McSharry
Carmel Evelyn McSharry (18 August 1926 – 4 March 2018) was an Irish character actress, best known for her roles as Beryl Humphries in '' Beryl's Lot'' (1973–77), and as Mrs. Hollingbery in '' In Sickness and in Health''. She also played bit parts in ''The Day the Earth Caught Fire'' (1961), '' 80,000 Suspects'' (1963) and '' The Leather Boys'' (1964). Raymond George Alfred Cooney Order of the British Empire, OBE (born 30 May 1932) is an English playwright, actor, and director. His biggest success, ''Run for Your Wife (play), Run for Your Wife'' (1983), ran for nine years in London's West End theatre, West End and is its longest-running comedy. He has had 17 of his plays performed there. Career Cooney began to act in 1946, appearing in many of the Whitehall farces of Brian Rix throughout the 1950s and 1960s. It was during this time that he co-wrote his first play, ''One For The Pot''. With Tony Hilton, he co-wrote the screenplay for the British comedy film ''What a Carve Up! (film), What a Carve Up!'' (1961), which features Sid James and Kenneth Connor.
