Norðurárdalur (North River Valley) is a valley in eastern Skagafjörður, Iceland bordered by the Bóluá river, which forms the boundary between Blönduhlíð and Norðurárdalur. Silfrastaðir
Silfrastaðir is a farm and church site at the mouth of the Norðurárdalur valley in Skagafjörður, Iceland. The farm's property is vast, spanning from the Bóluá river in Blönduhlíð out to the Kotá river in Norðurárdalur. Most of the land is mountainous, located around Silfrastaðafjall mountain. It is now slated for Forestry, reforestation. Previously, the entire Silfrastaðaafréttur mountain range belonged to the property of Silfrastaðir, but it was sold to the county in 1896 along with the smallholdings Hálfdanartunga and Krókárgerði in Norðurárdalur, which were abandoned and have not been rebuilt. The hreppur, hreppur's corral, called Silfrastaðaréttur, is on a spit of land below the farm. The Icelandic turf house, turf church that was previously in Silfrastaðir, built in 1842, is now part of Árbæjarsafn outdoor museum in Reykjavík. Norðurá (Skagafjörður)
Norðurá is a river that runs the length of Norðurárdalur valley in Skagafjörður, Iceland, where it creates extensive sandbars on the valley floor. The river joins the Héraðsvötn below Flatatunga. Fremri-Kot
Fremri-Kot is the innermost farm in Norðurárdalur valley in the foothills of Öxnadalsheiði in Skagafjörður, Iceland. According to the ''Landnámabók'', the farm was previously called , and it states that the plateau, a little farther up from , was named after the settler Þorbrandur örrek. The place name is now unknown. History is also mentioned in the ''Sturlunga Saga'' as the location to which Eyjólfur ofsi ("the violent") Þorsteinsson went with his troops for the Flugumýri Arson in fall 1253. He posted guards there so news of the arsonist's arrival would not spread. Skagafjörður
Skagafjörður () is a deep fjord and its valley in northern Iceland. Location Skagafjörður, the fjord, is about 40 km long and 15 km wide, situated between Tröllaskagi to the east and the Skagi, Skagi Peninsula to the west. There are two municipalities in the area, Skagafjörður Municipality (approx. 4140 inhabitants) and Akrahreppur, Akrahreppur Municipality (approx. 210 inhabitants). Akrahreppur
Akrahreppur (, regionally also ), previously called Blönduhlíðarhreppur, is a former municipality, or hreppur, situated in the Northwestern Region of Iceland, and located east of the Héraðsvötn, north of the Kyrfisá, and leading south to Hofsjökull. It is divided into a range of villages, including Ábær. In February 2022, residents of Akrahreppur and the neighboring municipality of Skagafjörður voted to combine the two municipalities. In June 2022 the merger was formalized under the name of Skagafjörður. Agriculture is the main industry in Akrahreppur and the area is sparsely populated. There are four churches in Akrahreppur in Flugumýri, Miklibær, Silfrastaðir, and Ábær in Austurdalur, but the Ábær parish is now completely abandoned. Blönduhlíð is a district in Iceland in eastern Skagafjörður that lies along the Héraðsvötn river. It spans the area from the Bóluá river in the south of and the Kyrfisá river to the north. Brekknapláss is the outermost part of in , from the to the Kyrfisá river. There are a few farms there, such as , the birthplace of the priest Jón Steingrímsson—known as the "fire-and-brimstone" preacher—which is in the southernmost part of . , a little further south, is where prime minister Hermann Jónasson was from and where there is a monument in his honor. Route 1 or the Ring Road ( or ) is a National road (Iceland), national road in Iceland that circles the entire country. As a major Trunk road, trunk route, it is considered to be the most important piece of transport infrastructure in Iceland as it connects the majority of towns together in the most densely populated areas of the country. Economically, it carries a large proportion of goods traffic as well as Tourism, tourist traffic. The total length of the road is , making it the longest ring road in Europe.
