Northville is a unincorporated area in the New England town, town of New Milford, Connecticut, New Milford, Litchfield County, Connecticut, Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is located approximately northeast of New Milford Center Historic District, New Milford Town Center along U.S. Route 202 in Connecticut, U.S. Route 202. History Northville was settled in the 1750s, after Daniel Hine established a farm here, while still residing in the New Milford Center Historic District, village center. It was only in 1760 that Hine built a farmhouse on the land. By 1773, Abel Buckingham would begin farming on the adjacent lot and thus, a farming community began. The combined property is now known as Hine-Buckingham Farms or Hunt Hill Farm. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Administrative Divisions Of Connecticut
Connecticut shares with the five other New England states a governmental structure known as the New England town. From 1666 to 1960, Connecticut had a system of county governments, which each had limited powers given to it by the General Assembly. They were abolished by Public Act 152 in 1960. New Milford is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The town, part of Greater Danbury, as well as the New York Metropolitan Area, has a population of 28,115 as of the 2020 census. The New Milford Center Historic District encompasses much of the traditional civic and commercial heart of New Milford, Connecticut. Description and history New Milford's town center was originally focused around its town green, a long three-block greensward located just east of the present downtown area. This remained the focus of civic and commercial activity until the Housatonic Railroad opened in 1840. The area between the green and the railroad then developed as a commercial hub, as the town grew to become a major service center for surrounding communities. Hunt Hill Farm
The Hunt Hill Farm is a historic farm property at Upland and Crossman Roads in New Milford, Connecticut. Also known as the Hine–Buckingham Farms, the property encompasses two farm properties that remained family-run from the 18th to early 20th centuries. The property includes one 18th and several 19th-century farmhouses and other outbuildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The farmstead is now home to The Silo at Hunt Hill Farm, an arts and culinary organization, while much of the land is held as conservation land by the town.
