North Idaho College
North Idaho College (NIC) is a public community college in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. It has an enrollment of approximately 3,900 undergraduate students. Its main campus is situated at the north end of Lake Coeur d'Alene near downtown Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Tubbs Hill, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, at the east bank of the outflowing Spokane River. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities but was placed on "show cause" status in early 2023 due to concerns about its board of trustees. Together with the College of Eastern Idaho, College of Western Idaho and College of Southern Idaho, NIC is one of only four comprehensive community colleges in Idaho. Tubbs Hill, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho
The Tubbs Hill Natural Area is a public park and natural area in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The park is located on a peninsula, with Lake Coeur d'Alene bordering the park on its west, south, and east sides and McEuen Park to the north with its main entrance and trail head at 210 South 3rd Street. An additional trail head is located at the southern terminus of 10th Street. The parks main attraction is the Interpretive Trail that takes visitors passed scenic vantage points and natural and historical sites of interest that takes about 52 minutes to complete. Other activities such as climbing, cliff jumping, kayaking, fishing, sun bathing, bird watching and flower viewing are also popular things to do in the park. Fort Sherman (Idaho)
Fort Sherman (1878–1900) was a military Outpost (military), post in the Northwestern United States, northwest United States, located in Idaho Panhandle, northern Idaho at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Coeur d'Alene. General William Tecumseh Sherman, William T. Sherman (1820–91) of the United States Army, U.S. Army had recommended the site after an inspection tour in 1877. On the north shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene and the east bank of the outflowing Spokane River, it began as a camp the next year, became Fort Coeur d'Alene in 1879, and the adjacent city grew. Sherman later visited the fort; it was named for him in 1887, three years after his retirement. The fort became unoccupied during the Spanish–American War (1898) and was abandoned shortly after. CWI also offers classes at several community locations throughout the Treasure Valley.
