The North Carolina State Board of Education, established by Article 9 of the Constitution of North Carolina, supervises and administers the public school systems of North Carolina. Catty Moore (, previously known as Cathy Moore) is a member of the North Carolina State Board of Education. She previously served as Superintendent (education), superintendent of the Wake County Public School System, from 2018 to 2023. Moore worked in the public education field for three decades prior to becoming superintendent, serving as a teacher, principal, and deputy superintendent. He is a former chairman of the North Carolina State Board of Education (1997–2003) and a former president of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce (then known as North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry, or NCCBI).
