North American Basketball League (1964–68)
The North American Basketball League (NABL) was an American minor professional basketball league organization founded in 2016. History Formed in 2016, the NABL began with 10 teams based in the South and Southwest regions of the United States. The first regular season games were played on April 30, 2016. Atlanta Show defeated Music City Kings in the first-ever league game 113-78. Atlanta Show would go undefeated on their way to capture the first league championship in August by defeating the Dallas Hoyas 145-110 in the championship game. Season two saw expansion to a national level with 19 teams competing. Four teams from the Northwest were added including the Vancouver-based SB Battle. The San Antonio Lions became the second league champion by defeating the defending champ Atlanta Show 103-82 in the championship. Buffalo Blue Hawks
The Buffalo Blue Hawks were a basketball team based in Buffalo, New York. The team was a member of the American Basketball Association from 2015 to 2017, and later the North American Basketball League in 2019. History 2011–2014: Franchise acquisition The Buffalo Stampede played their final season in 2010–11 as part of the American Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) before folding, leaving the city without a professional team. Franklin Jackson founded a new ACPBL franchise called the Buffalo Warriors, but his team folded midway through the 2011–12 season. Jackson then partnered with Tawan Slaughter to purchase an American Basketball Association (ABA) franchise for the city in November 2012. Kitsap Admirals
The Kitsap Admiral Basketball Club is a semi-professional international feeder program that is based in Bremerton, Washington. It was established in 2011 by former semi-pro basketball player Ashley D. Robinson. History On Dec. 19, 2011, the Kitsap Sun announced that the city of Bremerton had landed an ABA franchise. Originally, the Admirals intended to make the Kitsap Sun Pavilion their home venue. However, the building did not meet the arena requirements of the league (regulation hardwood court floor). Unable to renovate the arena, the Kitsap Admirals made Olympic College's Bremer Student Center their home. The Admirals made their ABA debut on Nov. 3, 2012 at OC against the Seattle Mountaineers. The Indianapolis Diesels, formerly known as the Indiana Diesels, were a team in the North American Basketball League (NABL). Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Diesels played their home games at Emmerich Manual High School south of downtown Indianapolis during their last seasons. In their inaugural season in the American Basketball Association, the team finished with an 8–4 record and defeated the West Virginia Blazers in the first round of the playoffs before losing to the Chicago Steam.
