North Adelaide Roosters
The North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed the Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, South Australia, Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. North Adelaide’s history can be traced directly back to the formation of the Medindie Football Club in 1881. Medindie was elevated to the South Australian Football Association (SAFA, later to become the SANFL) in 1888 as the Medindie Football Club (nickname Dindies and from 1890s Dingoes), changing its name to North Adelaide in 1893 with the promise of support from North Adelaide residents. 2020 SANFL Women's League Season
The 2020 SANFL Women's League season was the fourth season of the SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The season commenced on 14 February and concluded with the Grand Final on 23 August. The competition was contested by eight clubs, all of whom were affiliated with clubs from the men's South Australian National Football League (SANFL). North Adelaide Grammar School, later Whinham College was a private school operated in North Adelaide, South Australia by John Whinham (3 August 1803 – 13 March 1886) and his family. History John Whinham The founder of the school was born at Sharperton, Northumberland, and when very young displayed a thirst for knowledge and an aptitude for mathematics. He was tutored by a Roman Catholic clergyman, and at age 19 while acting as an assistant teacher qualified for entry to the University of Dublin, but family illnesses kept him in England, and in 1823 he took to teaching, and opened a school in Ovingham, near Newcastle upon Tyne. He was very successful there, and he received offers from Newcastle to move there, but chose to remain in Ovingham, where he married and became the father of six daughters and two sons. Prospect Oval
Prospect Oval is a sports stadium located at Menzies Crescent, Prospect, South Australia. The oval has a capacity of 20,000 people with seated grandstands holding approximately 2,000. An unusual feature of the oval is that it is laid out askew from the conventional orientation of Australian rules football and cricket ovals, with the goal posts located at the South-Western and the North-Eastern ends, and the cricket pitch running in the same direction. All other grounds in the SANFL run in a north–south direction.
