Norra Storfjället
Norra Storfjället is a minor sub-range of the Scandinavian Mountains, located in the county of Västerbotten, in Lapland, Sweden. It is, for the most part, located within Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve. It is divided approximately in half by a deep valley, the valley of Syterskalet – Viterskalet. Scandinavian Mountains
The Scandinavian Mountains or the Scandes is a mountain range that runs through the Scandinavian Peninsula. The western sides of the mountains drop precipitously into the North Sea and Norwegian Sea, forming the fjords of Norway, whereas to the northeast they gradually curve towards Finland. To the north they form the border between Norway and Sweden, reaching high at the Arctic Circle. The mountain range just touches northwesternmost Finland but are scarcely more than hills at their northernmost extension at the North Cape (). Västerbotten County
Västerbotten County (), sometimes called Westrobothnia, is a county or '' län'' in the north of Sweden. It shares the borders with the counties of Västernorrland, Jämtland, and Norrbotten, as well as the Norwegian county of Nordland and the Gulf of Bothnia. Lapland, also known by its Swedish name Lappland, is a province in northernmost Sweden. It borders the Swedish provinces of Jämtland, Ångermanland, Västerbotten, and Norrbotten, as well as Norway and Finland. Nearly a quarter of Sweden's land area is in Lapland. Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve
The Nature Reserve () is a nature reserve located in the municipalities of Sorsele and Storuman in Västerbotten County of Swedish Lapland (Sweden), Lapland. It is the largest natural reserve in Sweden and one of the largest protected areas in Europe, totaling 562,772 ha (approx. 5,628 km2). Most of the reserve is made up of several Scandinavian Mountains, the main ones being Artfjället, Norra Storfjället, Ammarfjället and Björkfjället. Most of the landscapes of the Swedish mountains are represented. This ranges from the pronounced alpine character of Norra Storfjället, which includes the highlight of the reserve, the Norra Sytertoppen (1,768 m), to the plateau and plains near the base of the mountains. Lapporten
Lapporten (Swedish: "The Lapponian Gate") or Tjuonavagge (Northern Sami language, Northern Sami: ''Čuonjávággi'', "Goose Valley") is a U-shaped valley located just outside Abisko National Park in Lapland (Sweden), Lapland in northern Sweden, one of the most familiar natural sights of the mountains there. The valley is bounded to the southwest of the mountain Nissuntjårro (1,738 m) and in the northeast of Tjuonatjåkka (1,554 m). In the middle of the valley lies Lake Čuonjájávri, 950 metres above sea level. The terrain is easy to walk but has no marked trail. Lapporten is in the Nissuntjårro Natura 2000 site. Hemavan
Hemavan ( South Sami: Bïerke) is a locality situated in Storuman Municipality, Västerbotten County ( Lapland), Sweden with 222 inhabitants in 2010. It is located on European route E12. During the winter months Hemavan caters to many tourists as a ski resort, mainly from Sweden and the neighbouring countries of Norway and Finland. Hemavan also has the Hemavan Airport, with one flight per day 6 days of the week to and from Stockholm-Arlanda. Hemavan is the starting point of the Kungsleden trail. History The area was originally named Björkfors in 1834, named by the Sámi Enar Andersson, who later sold the village to another settler family that had come from Stensele parish.
