Nordåsvannet
Nordåsvannet or Nordåsvatnet is a bay in Bergen Municipality in central Vestland county, Norway. Located about south of the centre of the city of Bergen, it separates the boroughs of Fana, Bergen, Fana and Ytrebygda from the borough of Fyllingsdalen. Nordåsvannet has an area of about , and is connected to the Grimstadfjorden at its far western end. The entire fjord, consisting of the Grimstadfjorden and Nordåsvannet, is known as the Fjøsangerfjorden. It is approximately long. The Bergen neighborhoods of Søreidegrenda, Nesttun, Paradis, Bergen, Paradis, Fjøsanger, Bønestoppen, and Straume, Bergen, Straume are all located on the shores of Nordåsvannet. Grimstadfjorden
Grimstadfjord or Grimstadfjorden is a small fjord in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The long fjord lies on the western side of the Bergen Peninsula, and it divides the Laksevåg and Ytrebygda boroughs of the city of Bergen. The Grimstadfjorden lies just north of Bergen Airport, Flesland and the Norwegian naval base Haakonsvern lies on the northern shore of the fjord. The lake Nordåsvannet flows to the west into this fjord and then this fjord flows west into the large Raunefjorden. The island of Bjorøy lies at the western mouth of the Grimstadfjorden. Fana, Bergen
Fana is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough makes up the southeastern part of the municipality of Bergen. The borough was once part of the historic municipality of Fana (municipality), Fana which was incorporated into Bergen in 1972. The old municipality was much larger than the present-day borough of Fana. It also included all of the present-day boroughs of Ytrebygda and Fyllingsdalen as well as the southern part of the present-day boroughs of Årstad, Bergen, Årstad. Ytrebygda
Ytrebygda is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is the site of Bergen Flesland Airport. Location Ytrebygda is located southwest of the city center, south of the Grimstadfjorden and the lake Nordåsvannet. It was originally part of Fana municipality before Fana was incorporated into Bergen in 1972. Since then, it was part of the borough of Fana until 1990 when it became a separate borough. Ytrebygda borders Fana borough in the east and the Fanafjorden in the south. Apart from the residential neighborhoods, Ytrebygda has a large office area in the Kokstad and Sandsli area, with large office buildings for companies such as StatoilHydro and Norsk Hydro. Paradis is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located between the neighborhoods of Storetveit in the bourough of Årstad, Bergen, Årstad and Hop, Bergen, Hop in the borough of Fana, Bergen, Fana, on the eastern shore of the lake Nordåsvannet. The name, which literally means "paradise" in Norwegian, is shared with several other locations in Norway and denotes a location with positive qualities not present in the surrounding areas. Paradis is dominated by single-family detached homes, and is the location of some of the most expensive homes in the city. Bønestoppen is a neighbourhood in the city of Bergen, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the lake Nordåsvannet in the city borough of Fyllingsdalen. The Bønes Church is located here. History The word "Bønes" comes from the word "Bæjarnes", which means "bosted" or "home", hence Bønestoppen means "bostedstoppen", literally "the top of the home". Bønestoppen has historically been part of Bønes farm, whose history goes back to the early 16th century, although the geography of the steep and forested Bønestoppen made it unsuitable for farming. Gamlehaugen
Gamlehaugen is a Royal Castle in Bergen, Norway, and the residence of the Norwegian royal family in the city. Gamlehaugen has a history that goes as far back as the Middle Ages, and the list of previous owners includes many of the wealthiest men in Bergen. Today owned by the Norwegian state, the most recent private owner was Christian Michelsen, a politician and shipping magnate who later became the first prime minister of Norway after the dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway. Michelsen commissioned the construction of the current main building at Gamlehaugen, where he would live for most of the rest of his life. When Michelsen died in 1925, his closest friends and colleagues started a national fund-raising campaign that brought in enough money to allow the Norwegian state to purchase the property. Fyllingsdalen
Fyllingsdalen () is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located southwest of the city centre in the Fyllingsdalen valley, west of the mountain Løvstakken. The neighbourhoods of Fyllingsdalen mainly consist of fairly large apartment buildings with little industry or commerce. The valley's name comes from the farm name "Fyllingen" (from Old Norse: 'fylingr', related to Old Norse 'fæla' - hide/hidden) and "dale" (from Old Norse: 'dalr' - valley) and is attested in 1437 as "Fylingir" .
