Nord-Trøndelag County Municipality
Nord-Trøndelag County Municipality () was the regional governing administration of the old Nord-Trøndelag county in Norway. The county municipality was established in its current form on 1 January 1976 when the law was changed to allow elected county councils in Norway. The county municipality was dissolved on 1 January 2018, when Nord-Trøndelag was merged with the neighboring Sør-Trøndelag county, creating the new Trøndelag county which is led by the Trøndelag County Municipality. The main responsibilities of the county municipality included the running of 12 upper secondary schools, with 7,000 pupils. It administered the of county roadways, public transport, dental care, culture and cultural heritage. The administration is located in Steinkjer. There are 15 counties in Norway. The 15 county, counties are administrative division, administrative regions that are the first-level administrative divisions of Norway. The counties are further subdivided into 357 municipalities of Norway, municipalities (). Gunnar Johannes Viken (born 9 July 1948 in Levanger) is a Norwegian dairy farmer and politician for the Conservative Party. Since 2007 he has been county mayor of Nord-Trøndelag County Municipality. Viken has been a member of the Nord-Trøndelag County Council since 1999 and a deputy member of the Storting since 2013. Prior to his election as county mayor in 2007, he chaired the Conservative Party group in the county council for 4 years and the county agricultural board for 12 years. He entered politics as a member of the municipal council of Mosvik Municipality in the early 1980s. Viken did not seek his party's renomination to the county council in 2015. Ingvild Kjerkol (born 18 May 1975) is a Norwegian politician.
