Norbert Daum
Norbert Daum (born 6 September 1948) is an Austrian musician and conductor. He often works with Ralph Siegel. Daum conducted entries in 7 years of the Eurovision Song Contest, during 1979–1994. Career Work as an arranger Daum was born in Braunau am Inn. He studied the violin, guitar, and piano as well as composition and conducting. Between 1965 and 1971, he was a member of the beat band The Substitutes. Since 1971, Daum has lived in Munich, where he met composer and producer Ralph Siegel, for whom he wrote orchestrations in countless productions. As a freelancer, Daum wrote more than 3000 orchestrations and worked with numerous artists in all genres, varying from crossover and outright classical music to German folk music and with artists such as Vicky Leandros, Karel Gott, Demis Roussos, and Die Jungen Tenöre. Braunau Am Inn
Braunau am Inn (; ) is a town in Upper Austria on the border with Germany. It is known for being the birthplace of Adolf Hitler. Geography The town is on the lower river Inn below its confluence with the Salzach, where it forms the border with the German state of Bavaria, halfway on the road between the state capital Linz and the Bavarian capital Munich, about north of Salzburg. Braunau is connected by bridges over the Inn with its Bavarian counterpart Simbach am Inn. Eurovision Song Contest 1980
The Eurovision Song Contest 1980 was the 25th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in The Hague, Netherlands, and was organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (NOS), which agreed to stage the event after the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA), who won in both and , declined to host the event for a second successive year. The contest was held at the on 19 April 1980 and was hosted by Dutch actress Marlous Fluitsma, although each song was introduced by a presenter appointed by each participating broadcaster (in some cases, this was the same person providing the commentary). Nicole Seibert (née Hohloch; born 25 October 1964), known professionally as Nicole, is a German singer, songwriter, musician and producer. In 1982, she became the first German representative to win the Eurovision Song Contest. She has released more than 25 studio albums and 80 singles, some of which she performed and recorded in, among other languages, English, Dutch, and French. She wrote the music and lyrics for some of her recordings. Early life Hohloch was born in Saarbrücken, Saarland, West Germany.
