Nikos Christodoulides
Nikos Christodoulides (; born 6 December 1973) is a Cypriot politician, diplomat, and academic who has served as the 8th President of Cyprus since 2023. He previously served as Government Spokesman from 2014 to 2018 and List of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2018 to 2022, both under his predecessor Nicos Anastasiades. A former member of the Democratic Rally, he has been an Independent politician, independent since the party ejected him for entering 2023 Cypriot presidential election, the 2023 presidential race against their chosen candidate. Christodoulides started his career as a diplomat in 1999, also working as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Cyprus from 2007 to 2010. He then served in the second Anastasiades government until resigning in January 2022 in order to run in the presidential election, where he defeated Andreas Mavroyiannis in the run-off and assumed office on 28 February 2023. The National Guard of Cyprus (), also known as the Greek Cypriot National Guard or simply the National Guard, is the military force of the Republic of Cyprus. Choulou
Choulou (Greek Language, Greek: :el:Χούλου, Χούλου, Turkish language, Turkish: Hulu) is a village in the Paphos District of Cyprus, located west of Agios Fotios at an elevation of about above sea level. It is located in the centre of the district next to the village Lemona and near Statos-Agios Photios and Letymbou villages. Choulou is east of the Ezousa River and its tributary the Chalaras River, Chalaras. Ιn the period of Frankish rule in Cyprus Choulou was a small feudal town. In 1950, it had a population of around 1,000 inhabitants. Today the population is around 150 and much of the village is abandoned. Just outside the village is the Ammati forest. The traditional Cypriot tale 'Arodafnousa' was born in Choulou. Choulou has five churches: Holy Cross, St Kononas, the Venetian church, St Theodoros, and the Byzantine church dedicated to St George.
