Nijolė Medvedeva (née Bluškytė; 21 October 1960 or 20 June 1960.) is a retired Lithuanian long jumper who won a bronze medal at the 1985 World Indoor Championships. Nijolė Ambrazaitytė (21 February 193927 November 2016) was an opera singer, politician, and signatory of the 1990 Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania. Biography Ambrazaitytė was born in , Lithuania. Ambrazaitytė's parents moved to Germany during World War II and later to Canada. She was brought up by her grandparents in a village in the Raseiniai district. She was deported to Siberia in 1948, returning in 1956 to study at the Lithuanian State Conservatoire. Her career as a singer began in 1966. She has released about 30 recordings and has performed in various international opera houses. Ambrazaitytė, elected to the Supreme Council of Lithuania in 1990, the Seimas in 1992 and the Seventh Seimas in 1996 has also served as a member of the Commission on State Pensions. Nijolė Sabaitė (née Razienė; born August 12, 1950 in Raseiniai, Lithuanian SSR) is a retired Lithuanian middle distance runner who represented internationally the USSR. She trained at VSS Nemunas in Vilnius. Sabaitė began athletics in 1967 and was a member of the USSR National Team since 1970. She competed mainly in the 800 metres, and won an Olympic silver medal in 1972, between Germans Hildegard Falck (gold) and Gunhild Hoffmeister (bronze). She also won 800m silver at the 1973 Summer Universiade behind Lilyana Tomova from Bulgaria, studying in Vilnius Pedagogical Institute. List Of Lithuanian Gods And Mythological Figures
The list of Lithuanian gods is based on scarce written sources and late folklore. Many of them were outright invented. Lithuania converted to Christianity in 1387, but elements of Lithuanian mythology survived into the 19th century. The earliest written sources, authored by foreigners and Christians, only briefly mention the Lithuanian gods. Beginning in the 16th century, the pagan religion received more attention from authors, but often their accounts were confused, contradictory, and heavily influenced by various religious agendas. Collection and recording of folklore began in the 19th century, by which time the pagan mythology had become fragmented and mixed with Christian traditions. The cults of old deities transformed into folklore (individual tales, myths, songs, etc.) without associated rituals. Nijolė Sadūnaitė
Nijolė Sadūnaitė (22 July 1938 – 31 March 2024) was a Lithuanian clandestine Catholic nun of the Soviet period who worked with the '' Chronicle of the Catholic Church in Lithuania''. In 1975 she faced three years of imprisonment for her efforts. She spent time imprisoned in Mordovia and then in Boguchany. She reportedly faced a variety of abuses in this period, including torture. She wrote ''A Radiance in the Gulag'' about her experiences. In 2018, Sadūnaitė received the "Lithuanian Freedom Award". She was the first female in history to receive the award. Sadūnaitė died on Easter Sunday, 31 March 2024, at the age of 85.
