Nicolò Degiorgis
Nicolò Degiorgis (born 1985) is an Italian visual artist, publisher, photographer, and curator. He runs Rorhof, an independent publishing house in Bolzano, Italy. He has self-published a number of books, including ''Hidden Islam'' (2014). ''Hidden Islam'' won the First PhotoBook award at the Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards, the Author Book Award at Rencontres d'Arles, and was a gold winner of the Deutscher Fotobuchpreis. Early life and education Degiorgis was born in Bolzano, South Tyrol, northern Italy. He earned a BA in sinology from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (2006–2008). He studied political science at the University of Trieste (2009–2010) and at Leiden University (2019). Bolzano
Bolzano ( ; ; or ) is the capital city of South Tyrol (officially the province of Bolzano), Northern Italy. With a population of 108,245, Bolzano is also by far the largest city in South Tyrol and the third largest in historical Tyrol. The greater metro area has about 250,000 inhabitants and is one of the urban centres within the Alps. Bolzano is the seat of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, where lectures and seminars are held in English, German, and Italian. Islam is a minority religion in Italy. Muslim presence in Italy dates back to the 9th century, when Sicily came under control of the Aghlabid Dynasty. There was a large Muslim presence in Italy from 827 (the first occupation of Mazara) until the 12th century. The Norman conquest of Sicily led to a gradual decline of Islam, due to the conversions and emigration of Muslims toward Northern Africa. A small Muslim community however survived at least until 1300 (the Muslim settlement of Lucera). Martin Parr (born 23 May 1952) is a British documentary photographer, photojournalist and photobook collector. He is known for his photographic projects that take an intimate, satirical and anthropological look at aspects of modern life, in particular documenting the social classes of England, and more broadly the wealth of the Western world. His major projects have been rural communities (1975–1982), ''The Last Resort'' (1983–1985), ''The Cost of Living'' (1987–1989), ''Small World'' (1987–1994) and ''Common Sense'' (1995–1999).
