Nicolás Ramírez (Mexican Footballer)
Edgar Nicolás Ramírez Ceceña (born February 16, 1974) is a Mexican former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He started his career playing for Santos Laguna in 1993–94.MedioTiempo"Nicolás Ramírez - Atlas."Retrieved January 16, 2013. By the Invierno 1996 season, Ramírez had become a starter in a championship-winning squad that also included Benjamín Galindo, Jared Borgetti, and Gabriel Caballero. Though Ramírez retained his place in defensive midfield in the following seasons, Santos experienced declining results and he transferred to Cruz Azul in 1999. He eventually represented ten different clubs, playing his final match in the top division with Atlas in 2005. Ramírez also represented Mexico, making 19 international appearances. Tepic
Tepic () is the capital and largest city of the western Mexico, Mexican Political divisions of Mexico, state of Nayarit, as well as the seat of the Tepic Municipality. The 1997 Copa America was the 38th edition of the Copa America. It was held in Bolivia from 11 to 29 June. It was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body. In this edition, Costa Rica and Mexico were the invited teams to bring up the total number of competing teams to 12. Jesús Ramón Ramírez Ceceña (born 5 December 1969) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Ramírez was meant to be one of the best Mexican players since Hugo Sánchez, but various injuries threatened and stopped his career several times. He was one of the top Mexican footballers in the 1990s, but despite the speculations surrounding his talents, he never moved to Europe to play for a much more competitive club. Club career Ramirez started his career in Santos Laguna in 1990, and since the beginning, he showed his skills in the midfield. His talent made him one of the most promising players of the time, and was rewarded with a call for the Mexico national football team in 1991.
