Karis
Karis (; ) is a town and former municipality in Finland. On January 1, 2009, it was consolidated with Ekenäs and Pohja to form the new municipality of Raseborg (). It is located in the Finnish province of Southern Finland and is part of Uusimaa, one of the regions of Finland. The town had a population of 9,155 (as of 31 December 2008) and covered a land area of . The population density was . The municipality was bilingual, with a majority (59%) being Swedish language speakers and a minority (38%) being Finnish language speakers. ØIF Arendal
ØIF Arendal is a Norwegian handball team located in Arendal, Norway. They compete in REMA 1000-ligaen, which is the highest league for men's handball clubs in Norway. History The club was founded on April 1, 1929. The club was promoted to the first division, the REMA 1000-ligaen, in the 2008/2009 season. Riihimäki Cocks () is a Finnish professional handball club from Riihimäki. The club is playing in the Finnish Handball League (SM-liiga), and play their home matches in Cocks Areena. History Riihimäki Cocks were founded in 1973 when the club decided to separate from RiPS. The newly founded team gained promotion to Finnish Handball League during the following season. The team won their first Championship medals in 1978, when the team finished second in the championship. BK-46 is a Finnish professional handball club from Karis. The club is playing in the Finnish Handball League (SM-liiga), and play their home matches in Karis Idrottshall. History The club was founded in 1946. The handball department was founded in the club in 1949. The club was promoted to the first division in 1957. In 1966, the association won its first medal, a bronze, and in 1968 it won the Finnish championship for the first time. Due to conflicts within the association, which were rooted in the expensive trips of the handball team, the association stopped handball activities in 1974. Thanks to the active handball activists and the goodwill of the member associations of the handball association, BK-46 was able to restart the Finnish series, thus returning to the championship series in the 1976–1977 season. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team.
