Nicholas Ashmore
Major-General Nicholas David Ashmore CB OBE (born September 1961) is a British Army officer who served as Military Secretary and General Officer Scotland. Military career Ashmore was commissioned into the Royal Artillery on 3 January 1984. After seeing active service during the Iraq War, he became Colonel Army Plans in December 2004, Commander Royal Artillery for 3rd (UK) Division in July 2007 and Director Plans at Army Headquarters in July 2009 before becoming Director Strategic Asset-Management and Programme Team at the Defence Infrastructure Organisation in September 2011. He went on to be Military Secretary in March 2015 and, additionally, General Officer, Scotland, in July 2015. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by King George I of Great Britain, George I on 18 May 1725. Major General Nicholas Henry Eeles, (born 24 April 1961) is a British Army officer who served as General Officer Commanding Scotland from 2012 to 2015. Military career Educated at the University of Bristol, Eeles was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1982. In 1994 he was deployed to Bosnia as chief of staff in the British headquarters of United Nations Protection Force. He then commanded C Battery Royal Horse Artillery, in which role he was deployed to Northern Ireland. He was appointed commanding officer of 26th Regiment Royal Artillery in 2001 and commanded his regiment in Germany, Kosovo and Bosnia before preparing for operations in Iraq. Major General Robert Bernard Bruce, is a former British Army officer. He has served as Governor of Edinburgh Castle since September 2024. Military career Bruce was commissioned into the Royal Scots on 5 September 1986. He became commanding officer of the Royal Scots in February 2006 and then of The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, as the Royal Scots and King's Own Scottish Borderers merged that year.
