Nezahualcoyotl (tlatoani)
Nezahualcoyotl ( , ), "Fasting Coyote" (April 28, 1402 – June 4, 1472) was a scholar, philosopher (''tlamatini''), warrior, architect, poet and ruler (''tlatoani'') of the city-state of Texcoco (altepetl), Texcoco in pre-Columbian era Mexico. Unlike other high-profile Mexican figures from the century preceding the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, Nezahualcoyotl was not fully Mexica; his father's people were the Acolhua, another Nahuan people settled in the eastern part of the Valley of Mexico, on the coast of Lake Texcoco. His mother, however, was the sister of Chimalpopoca, the Mexica king of Tenochtitlan. King Nezahualcoyotl is best remembered for his poetry; for his Hamlet-like biography as a dethroned prince with a victorious return, leading to the fall of Azcapotzalco (altepetl), Azcapotzalco and the rise of the Aztec Triple-Alliance, Aztec Triple Alliance; and for leading important infrastructure projects, both in Tetzcoco (altepetl), Texcoco and Tenochtitlan; and exc ... Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl
Nezahualcóyotl (), or more commonly Neza, is a city and municipal seat of the municipalities of Mexico, municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico. It is located in the List of states of Mexico, state of State of Mexico, Mexico, adjacent to the east side of Mexico City. The municipality comprises its own intrastate region, Region IX (Mexico State). It was named after Nezahualcoyotl (tlatoani), Nezahualcoyotl, the Acolhua poet and king of nearby Texcoco (Aztec site), Texcoco, which was built on the drained bed of Lake Texcoco. The name ''Nezahualcóyotl'' comes from Nahuatl, meaning "fasting coyote". Nezahualcóyotl's heraldry includes an Aztec writing, Aztec glyph as well as a coat of arms. The glyph depicts the head of a coyote, tongue outside the mouth with a collar or necklace as a symbol of royalty (one of the ways of depicting the Aztec king). Nezahualcóyotl is a station on Line B of the Mexico City Metro system. It is located in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl in the State of Mexico adjacent to Mexico City. The logo for the station is the head of a coyote since ''Nezahualcóyotl'' is Nahuatl for "hungry coyote", it is similar to the seal of Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl Nezahualcóyotl (), or more commonly Neza, is a city and municipal seat of the municipalities of Mexico, municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico. From 2000 to 2002 the station name was Continentes (Spanish for "continents"), due to the station being near the Boulevard de los Continentes, and the icon of the station was a Mollweide projection. The Nezahualcóyotl Award of Literature in Indigenous Languages (''Premio Nezahualcóyotl de Literatura en Lenguas Indígenas'') is a Mexican literary prize given to writers who create works in indigenous languages. The award was created in 1993.
