A civil township is a widely used unit of local government in the United States that is subordinate to a county, most often in the northern and midwestern parts of the country. The term town is used in New England, New York, and Wisconsin to refer to the equivalent of the civil township in these states; Minnesota uses "town" officially but often uses it and "township" interchangeably. Kansas
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Kansas is a landlocked state bordered by Nebraska to the north; Missouri to the east; Oklahoma to the south; and Colorado to the west. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Newton City/County Airport
Newton City-County Airport is three miles east of Newton, in Harvey County, Kansas. It is owned by the City of Newton and Harvey County. History This establishment was created during World War 2 as a flight training facility for the U.S. Navy. After WW2 ended, it was converted into an airport. It is mostly used as a transport facility now. Also, the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a ''reliever airport'' for Wichita Mid-Continent Airport.
