Newberry County is a County (United States), county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, its population was 37,719. Its county seat is Newberry, South Carolina, Newberry. The Newberry, name is of unknown origin, although one theory suggests that it was named by Quakers, Quaker settlers in honor of their home of Newbury Park, London, Newberry, a suburb of London metropolitan area, London in the United Kingdom. Lake Murray (South Carolina)
Lake Murray is a reservoir in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is approximately in size, and has roughly of shoreline. It was impounded in the late 1920s to provide hydroelectric power to the state of South Carolina. Lake Murray is fed by the Saluda River, which flows from upstate South Carolina near the North Carolina state line. The Saluda Dam (officially the ''Dreher Shoals Dam'') was an engineering feat at the time of its construction. Cullands Grove, also known as Cannon's, was a country house and estate in Southgate, Middlesex. It was built on an area of woodland formerly known as Gullands Grove. Cullands Grove was known for the lavish banquets held there by Sir William Curtis 1st Baronet of Cullands Grove and after his death in 1829 it took a week to auction the contents of the house and estate which included 370 dozen bottles of wine. Dreher Island State Park
Dreher Island State Park is in central South Carolina roughly 30 miles (48 km) from the state's capital of Columbia. It occupies all of the largest island in Lake Murray, a reservoir of the Saluda River.
