The New Zealand cricket team toured Sri Lanka in 1987, with the intention of playing three test matches and three one day internationals. The first test at Colombo Cricket Club Ground ended in a draw. The second and third Tests were both cancelled because of civil disturbances. The tour was cut short due to a bomb exploding near the New Zealand team's hotel in Colombo. New Zealand Cricket Team
The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men's international cricket. Nicknamed the Black Caps (), they played their first Test in 1930 against England in Christchurch, becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. From 1930 New Zealand had to wait until 1956, more than 26 years, for its first Test victory, against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. They played their first ODI in the 1972–73 season against Pakistan in Christchurch. New Zealand are the inaugural champions of ICC World Test Championship which they won in 2021 and they have also won ICC Champions Trophy in 2000. Udaya Wickramasinghe
Wickrama Arachchige Udaya Wickramasinghe (12 August 1939 – 12 April 2010) was a Sri Lankan cricket umpire. Wickramasinghe was born in Matugama in Sri Lanka. He was educated at St Peter's College and Dharmapala College, and worked as an Immigration Officer in the Immigration Department in Sri Lanka. His cricket umpiring career began in 1969 in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. He served as an umpire in international cricket from 1987 to 1998. He was the first overseas umpire to qualify as an official instructor of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers in England in 1988. He stood as an umpire in three Tests, all played in Sri Lanka and all of which were drawn. The Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (SSC Cricket Ground) (; ) is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka, and the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the controlling body of cricket in Sri Lanka. Asgiriya Stadium, (, ) is a cricket ground located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Uniquely owned by Trinity College, Kandy, it is situated a short distance away from the city centre. Joseph Ravindran Ratnayeke (born 2 May 1960), is a Sri Lankan businessman and former cricketer who was ODI captain of Sri Lanka national cricket team.
